The guy is from Beaumont and a free agent this season and everyone knows we need a defensive shot blocking big man he may just be our guy. It would be an offseason pick up but may as well throw it out there.
I have never once heard any stories of him being a cancer in the locker room, could you link me if you know of any?
This doesn't deserve its own thread. I say it's a probable scenario if we don't manage to address the problem by then. I think Boston might let him go if they decide it's time to break it up (that day is not far off, especially if they fail to even reach the finals)
what? He is hard-working defensive-minded tough center, that can help rockets, but he can't pass the ball, so he would not fit in Adelman's offense. But if Rick'll want to change smth, Morey should go for him definitely. Only problem is his injury and he's just above average rebounder because of his size
He would be great. Cancer? I heard he's great in the locker room. He is coming off of ACL surgery though.
Wouldn't happen...set your sights lower on guys who might actually be obtainable under the right circumstances. Think DeAndre Jordan or Spencer Hawes or if your thinking older, think Chris Kaman.
Boston won't give him up. Not as long as the possibility of facing Dwight Howard in the playoffs exists. As a free agent? Sure, I'm listening.
ACL surgery isnt anything major. It does take at least 1 1/2 - 2 years to get back up to full strength and feel comfortable again, but its not as serious as microfracture though. Carl Landry was another player who had ACL surgery in college. Al Jefferson was another player who had ACL surgery couple years ago and is playing pretty well now. I think he'd a be a good pick up, but the question is: will he fit this system? He's not much of a shooter, and i'm not too sure that he's an avg to above avg passer. But then again, anything would be better than what we've got now.
Mixed up Either way I have not heard anything about Perkins being a cancer in the Celtics locker room.
He's playing in a whole a new system with new players. It takes some time to get acclimated. And Sloan's offense has never relied on a center. Their centers were Greg Foster and Greg Ostertag when they went to the finals... And he doesn't have to put up 20/10 with this team like he did in Boston or Minny.. he has a lot more talent and more players around him.
I just dont see anyone else out there with out trading that could step right in and be what we need at the 5 spot, there is some good young talent out there but nobody proven
I wouldn't mind necessarily, it's just that he's coming off surgery. To anyone with a stomach for these type of things, being a Rockets fan and enduring these types of things already, I applaud you. However, I can't bare leaning onto someone significant who has issues. Although injury should be common amongst NBA players, my patience is running thin with the ones we've recently had..
Cancer in the locker room? Where's that come from? I've met him several times, and always found him to be pleasant. Watched him work out at the Wellness Center in Beaumont on the day he learned the Big 3 was happening for the Celtics. His workout was crazy intense. He told me, "I'm going to make damn sure I'm not the reason those guys don't get their rings." My own opinion of him: he could be the enforcer and defender we so desperately need. Let's see how healthy he plays after he comes back from his knee rehab, though, and look at him when he's a free agent.
