And I switched to Windstream...and it's freakin' fantastic! I'm getting the speed I should have been getting all along and am paying 20 dollars less a month for it! Now what to do with that extra 20 a month I'm saving ...and boy am I going to enjoy canceling my account with Crapcast!
Live just outside in Stafford...Uverse wasn't in the area so Windstream was my only hope to rid myself of Comcast and have been very pleased so far.
A buddy of mine was raving about U-verse when he first got it. Now he tells me it's no better than anything else he's tried. I'm actually having no problems with Comcast (other than the high price).
Any idea how much a phone/internet bundle would cost me? How much was the modem, and how does the rebate work? Big question, how much does it cost after 6 months? Thank you very much if you answer this. Comcast screwed me, now AT&T is pretending like the package I signed up for doesn't exist after 2 years of service.
The modem is 50 dollars, but it comes with a $50 mail in rebate. I needed a phone line myself but only needed one as a data line for the dsl, so they provided me with a basic line (incoming calls, 911 free) and internet for 34.99 for the first three months I believe, then it goes up to 39.99 after that. And this is the 3Mbs tier, which is still a LOT faster than anything I was getting from Comcast.
I'm still not happy with Comcast, but at least we finally got the On Demand upgrade here recently. I've already watched LOST in HD, Survivor, some Fantasy Island episodes, a few movies and some NBA TV off of it. We never had DVR so this new library is at least an upgrade. I don't know if everyone in Houston has it yet though.
Does Windstream throttle torrents? Cause I'm still trying to find an alternative than Crapcast. Of course, in this very board people said Windstream was worse.
I was raving about U-Verse for no reason too. I actually switched back to TW and am saving a ton of money. HD + Internet for only $64 after taxes. Don't ask how I got the deal, it took me many phone calls.
I just placed my order. U-200 with the Sports and HD Package + DVR, plus DSL Pro. I think I'm paying 109 a month, which is equal to what I was paying with Comcast, but I'll actually get the services I'm paying for this time. I didn't see anything about needing to buy equipment though, or have a hard line.
They don't really say it on their website, which is confusing...but you will need a land line, which probably ran 10 dollars or so. The equipment you need to buy is essentially free as long as you mail in the rebate (told me that over the phone).
