Today was the day my ps2 died resp. got killed. After a long weekend of rented dvd's and 2 of them again not working I had to kill my ps2.

The hated phrase "disc read error" flashed so many times I almost threw the b*stard outta window. OK, we watched two of them on my PC which was ok but not how it should be.

OK, then I checked an internet site to repair the problem at home.
First I couldn't open the blackdevil as it should which made me do it with sheer power. After cracking it up like an oyster the fan looked like a black hawk down but was still running. ha.

The I flipped some switches here, turned some wheels there and try the b*stard again. After I slipped several times with this small optical screwdrivers and got both thumbs bloody, I gave it a try. It started to run. Juhuuuuu. Today I got the same problem again an I opened it up again and adjusted everything again. No result. f.........er.

I calmly plugged it of, put it in a box and removed all games from the TV area to place it in a box.

I cannot afford a new one now and therefore have to wait to play my beloved nba games and newly accuired Manhunt and Medal of Honor. ****. This will be like two or three months without it. crap.

Somebody went through similar pain and somebody has an idea when the ps3 is coming out?

I should'nt have open it. Common sense told me not to do it. But some may understand what I did. The worst is, before, I could still played all my videogames, only some dvd's did not work. Men can be so stupid sometimes.

Shoot, you could have mine. I haven't touched it or my Gamecube in about six months. I only play when I'm forced to by friends.

thanks man, unfortunately I cannot drive by and pick it up. The flight costs would eat my restoftheyearbudget. And also I guess the us-versions do not run in europe. but hey, it's the thought that counts.

perhaps cracking open your PS2 like an oyster did the job....

Seriously, there are more than one model of the PS2. They have different setups (different screws to un-screw).

Oh well, you're better off with out it. I haven't played my PS2 in a long while now.

Put a MOD in any system, and it will work anywhere.

Iwatch movies from all around the world in mine, and play games from Europe, middle East, and Asia in it.

.....back when I was addicted to the system.

hey guys, when reading your replies I think this is the dawn of a new era. I will sell all my games and will quit gaming. Wouldn't be the baddest thing at all. I could read more books, treat my red eyes with fresh air, ................. buy some champagne and crabs.

naaa, I will check how it works for the next monthes. Then decide.
But I need a dvd player quick.

i respectfully disagree. why not get an xbox... they are working on xbox - PC compatibility.

PC games are cool... but it's just more comfortable sitting on the sofa and playing with a controller.

anyway, i'm sorry to hear about that Palmray. Maybe you could try to give up games altogether. I actually haven't played in a while and productivity has gone up and I don't miss it all that much.

I have to disagree with your disagree.

Computer games are a hell of a lot cheaper, because developers don't have to pay to use the platform like they do with PS2 and XBOX. Also I can play games on my PC with much better resolutions than the XBOX and PS2 can dish out. I currently have my PC displaying on my 32" tv whenever I play games with friends.

I sit on a couch, and play with a controller. You think I play NBA LIVE 2004 ($17 on PC.....$40+ on XBOX and PS2) with the keyboard?! You've got to be kidding me. ;)

oh....and all this was respectfully disagreeing too.

I love playing systems, I hate paying 50 bucks a game even when the game is relatively old. Games like Madden 2004 etc. (sports games) are still 50 bucks in stores till the next one comes out, but on PC they are only $19. (already)

I don't know, I have a PS2. I don't think I am going to buy another game until the new GTA comes out. That maybe the last copy I buy from stores here in the USA. Sony and Microsoft make it hard to want games on their systems with the licensing fees put on to the developers which are then passed down to us, the consumers. (one reason why I have a mod chip in my system)

Okay Uprising you definitely have a good point. Sometimes computer games drop down to ridiculous prices I'll grant you that... you can get one for like 5 bucks sometimes. Meanwhile Xbox games do not go below 19.99.

Also... there are only 5 good games for xbox. But I guess since I don't play all the time that's good for me.

You are just a more serious gamer than me.

I thought it was really funny when someone... maybe Wizkid83, posted that even though his cousins in China have 100X less disposable income than he, they have 200X more games... I mean do they really need to charge $50 a game. If I was less lazy I'd try to mod my system but I just fear something like what happened to Palmray will happen to me. Plus I guess I'll be getting a real job soon so I'll have some money to buy the 2 good xbox games that come out every year.

I think I'm gonna by a new xbox and mod it soon. I need a project for the summer...I think this would be perfect. I'll change out the hard drive, Evox, and umm...maybe a classic game emu and tons of other stuff

When I was a kid, my friend took apart his favoritest GI Joe guy (Grunt) so he could see how he was made. But, he couldn't put him back together again and he cried. Later on, he figured out how to put the GI Joes back together again, but he had already thrown away Grunt's parts. :(
