what a surprise, huh? Chinese bball fans actually are highly critical of Yao. and Just because Yao is Chinese doesn't mean most Chinese people love him.
Ya know, I was talking to my cousin, who lives in B.F.E. and he said all the locals there said Yao sucks and that he is the next Shawn Bradley. Isnt that funny?????? PS - I think "Insider" is just trying to live up to his handle
no, i'm not trying to live up to my handle. it was just by coincidence that my brother called me. he rarely calls since long distance calling from china is expensive. he was just calling to see if his check arrived yet. and i just asked him out of curiosity how the chinese media in that one area where he lives which is just a small city portrays him. and he said truthfully, that the media in that area (note: local area newspapers) said yao was weak and that he isn't playing well and that there actually is a saying that when he plays well, the rockets lose. which i found really ironic since this message board always has people saying give yao the damn ball and mobley and francis are stupid posts. back in china, it's the opposite. nobody calls him shawn bradley, but people are saying he needs to get stronger cause his upper body is weak and that when he plays well the other teammates don't get involved and don't play as well. which is kind of a unusual thing to hear since yao actually passes the ball and gets his teammates involved. so i found that amusing.
and doing a crappy job at that..."oh my brother said these chinese in some ambigous area of china(I won't tell ) said some bad things about Yao...oh, oh, I'm going to type it on CC.net because it's REAAAALLLLLY interesting. i should mention that they don't like shanghai people in this area of china. probably there is a bias against shanghainese. i'm not sure. i'm not going mention the name of the province since people are going to get offended.

no he did not go to mongolia or tibet. i know the province he's in since i've been there and it's nowhere near mongolia or tibet. it's in mainland china. but i'm not going name the province since i don't want to offend anybody. again, i'm not sure if there's a shanghai bias there but that's just a guess as to why they were dissing yao that much in the paper. also i'm not even sure my brother's telling the truth. since he doesn't like yao himself. he calls him a scrub everytime he misses a shot.
Sad but ture Most people from other regions in china doesn't like SHANGHAINESS at all. They've been told from older that "shanghainess is bad, they can make your life as hell, they have all kinds of tricks to play w/ you, blah, blah blah" I'm a shanghainess and i heard all kinds of BS over the Chinese BBS.
