I started this job 4 weeks ago, and they let me go today with a ****ty severance package!! They gave me absolutely no reason as to why they were letting me go, which I think is entirely unprofessional. **** THIS ****!!!
Sorry but sometimes it works out for the best. I got late off late last year, whcih sucked but I hated my supervisor. I landed a job in the same field with cool people, great supervisors, more pay, and I get to work when I want to.
Sorry to hear that. My time is coming. Been here 4 years. It's just a matter of time. It's already happened in 3 other departments.
Sorry to hear that. Getting laid off totally sucks, especially when you have a family to worry about. Good luck on landing a new job soon.
you know what needs to be done.. "I'll set the building on fire..." Sorry about your loss, work hard in finding a new job and you will find an even better one..
The fact that you got no reason or do not know why is pretty disturbing in my book. Now, you'll wonder about that for the rest of your life. That's not fair. Sorry.
Don't listen to these guys, life is over and the quicker you realize that and whip out the razor blades, the better you will feel. Remember, long ways down the vein so they can't repair it. Also, make sure you take a big dump about 30 minutes prior so that you don't make a mess.
Sorry to hear this, cwebbster. I remember my sister getting laid off from a retail job about 6 years ago. It absolutely devestated her. But she was able to find another job pretty quickly (she lives in Nashville - one of the few advantages of living in such a big city, IMO). She wound up not keeping that job (it was a job through a temp agency) but it helped her go into what she is doing now (teaching high school). It'll work out for you, just hang in there. In the meantime, update that resume and network the best you can. Also hit up the temp staffing agencies while you wait to hear from a permanent place. Good luck.
I don't agree with that at all. I got laid off when the IT bubble burst. I worked contracts for a year-and-a-half and my expenses skyrocketed (paying COBRA insurance). Only now, several years later, am I getting paid the same salary was before I got laid off. It had a direct negative impact on my career, my family, and my goals. My self-esteem took a beating as well. cwebbster, the best I can say is that at least you're not facing an industry that has had the bottom fall out. Be strong for yourself and your family (if you have one), and hang in there.
I don't even drink beer, or alcohol for that matter, and I really know nothing about different brands. But, the crazyness of this boomer guy just makes me laugh. Really hard. It's just funny that it's an insult to accuse someone of drinking light beer. And what's even funnier is that the insult was thrown out because of an argument over parking garage laws. It's like the time my brother and mom got into a serious arguement over whether or not Graceland should be a national monument.
