I just found a Rockets legend standing in my cubicle...

So I work at the Houston SPCA and today we're having our annual pet telethon. There are quite a few local "celebrities" in attendance such as news anchors, radio personalities, Power Dancers and Texans Dancers...but I ran into one that I didn't expect.

As I was walking between buildings I crossed paths with this black guy in a tank top, warm up pants, and a red cap. I did a double take and realized that I just walked past Calvin freaking Murphy without even acknowledging him. I was pretty mad at myself for that, but I had to keep walking.

So about 10 minutes later I walk back to my building hoping to see him around somewhere, and when I turn the corner to go to my desk he's standing right there in my cubicle! Apparently he was waiting on someone to get finished with hair and make-up. So I tapped him on the shoulder and told him I was the resident Rockets fan (pointing to all the Rockets crap in my cubicle) and felt like I should introduce myself. We exchanged a "how do you do?" and then he asked me if I knew where he could find some poodle that he was hoping to adopt. A couple of minutes later when our conversation was over he ran off to try and find the dog, so I didn't have the opportunity to get a picture with him.

If I see him around again I'll try and at least get a picture of him by himself. Just figured it was a cool story and had to post it.

I saw Murphy at a game one time (back when he was on the side lines) & went down to talk to him.

Man what a great guy. Gave me an autograph & had a little convo w/ me even though I know he was in a hurry.

Just comes across as a nice guy.

P.S. I HATE the Calvin Murphy radio show, Please Murphy end it allready!

I wonder what kind of dog Keith "Argyle Cardigan" Jones has. Probably a poodle, too.

He's real big on athletes taking the time to be nice to fans within reason.....you don't want to interupt reastaurant dinners or family time but a nice hello or autograph when possible---head nod etc...you always can do that.

I hope you're right and that radio show he does isn't a good reflection on his true personality. He comes off sounding like a blustering fool on that show.

I saw that on Cheap Seats once. Nearly pissed my pants laughing. Male baton twirling has to be the gayest sport in the history of mankind. Of course, there is no reason to believe Calvin is a homo. It's not like he walks around in purple, glittery suits or has an extravagant personality.

Cool. My 10 yo wants to be a vet for the SPCA and she watches Animal Cops: Houston all the time. Do you ever appear on the show?

I saw Mike Harris at Walmart about a week or so ago sorting through the underwear isle. I thought it would be inappropriate to say anything to him in that instance. I mean, if you were a NBA player, would you want anyone acknowledging you while you're looking for unmentionables at a Walmart?

When you're Mike Harris, that's just facing reality :)

I can't believe people in this thread have questioned Murphy's sexuality. Do you KNOW how many children that guy has fathered? Come on now.

You should have asked him to stand in front of a rim so you could video yourself jumping over him for a dunk. How cool would that be?
