My wife and I ate about that much Friday night here in Seattle. It was the 10th anniversary of our first date, which was at Miyako in Houston. My wife is pregnant so she had to stay with cooked meat and vegetarian rolls. If you're ever in Seattle, Kisaku has their Devil's Vegetable roll with marinated eggplant, which is the bomb. I had some toro at the end, which was divine.

Of course, the cold didn't bother me as much after I had a few beers with dinner. If you're walking in 20 below weather, you've got to get some spirits in you first.

I know. Pregnancy restrictions suck. My wife is a chef and loves a ton of different foods that are right out the window for the next 5 months: Sushi, tartares, tuna, a great number of cheeses, medium rare meat, etc.

We live in Seattle, so we can go out again after the kid is born for some fresh sushi. We probably would have skipped it Friday night, but it was the 10th anniversary of our first date, which was at a sushi restaurant. Besides the place we went to has excellent calamari and vegetable rolls. Their California rolls and spider rolls are pretty good too.

I'm looking forward to our eating tour after the second kid is born. Sushi is pretty high on the list (both out and making it at home), but steak tartare and a medium rare piece of lamb is at the top of the list.
