I don't know if it's a dodge or what, but he said it. Phil Jackson was saying that with the possesions a basketball team gets during a game that they need to average 1.2 points per possession to score 100 points in a game. So with Shaq--two missed free throws is a turnover, two made is gravy, and a split is a-ok. He was making the point that the Lakers at HAPPY with his 54% FT shootin, of course they'd like it to be better, but as long as it's 50% or better they're ok with it. They are hoping to avg close to 100 points a contest in the playoffs, at which point, with their defense, they feel they'll waltz through again.
Rule #1... NEVER EVER take what Phil says seriously. He will probably bash Shaq in a week or so about his poor FT shooting. The Zen Master loves to say outrageous things, often times contradicting what he says from before. How many times has he said the Lakers played like crap? While the next time he says they played great? Or how many times has Phil said he's "not worried" after a 3-game losing streak. Then later says "it's a big concern?" I highly doubt Phil is "satisfied" with it in reality.
Phil says what he thinks what needs to be said to make his team better if he thinks they need a boost on cofidence he'll say something good if he needs to get them fired up he'll say they play like crap they call him the Zen Master I call him the Great Manipulator
