Who do you guys compare Eddie to ? Shareef abdur rahim ? ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
More of a Duncan - Wallace type player. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
Look around. Comparisions to Shawn Marion have surfaced on the BBS. Anyway, I think he'll be better than Shareef although that is a good comparison too. The scoring and rebounding potential is definitely there, but from what I've read, it sounds like he might be all around better defender. ------------------ Anger is a weed. Hate is a tree.

I think this thread is just on drugs... I couldn't read it until you posted in it.... Plus... multiple posts are rampant... Oh well... Marion may be a stretch, but I won't complain if that's what we get in a couple years... ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
I thought I'd bring this back up to the top. In Griffin, I see the defensive ability of TMac (roaming ability, leaping, size, shot blocking), mixed with the offensive ability of Reef (good shot without great 3 point range, silky smooth in post, rebounding, mismatch waiting to happen). A good combination indeed. ------------------ "I think alot of people find Cato's game to be very offensive." -aelliott, comparing the offensive skills of Kelvin Cato and Michael Olowokandi
good shot without great 3 point range-Nike I'm confused. On Clutch's recap, he said that that Eddie Griffen can "can take his sweet jumper out to three-point range". Does he have a 3 pointer or not? ------------------ PrEsident of The Danforth Langhford FAN CLUB... He IS our future All-Star Small Forward
My opinion. Robert Horry but..... quicker on D faster stronger more consistent better rebounder not a 3 pt shooter not quite more potential way better at creating his own shot better slasher better post up It might seem like he is nothing like Horry but you take his mold and polish it and you have EG. Big Dog on offense. The Matrix on defense. Shane Battier reminds me of Rick Fox for some reason. ------------------ Fuggetabout it
I'd say Shawn Marion with a better shot and more upside. He's part of the Marion/Shareef mold of good post-up SFs with great rebounding. ------------------ CC.net's most courteous driver Oh yeah, and I'm looking for a job right now, so hire me please
I watched a handful of Seton Hall games this year and there really isn't anybody in the NBA you can compare Eddie to. Shareef can square up and put the ball on the floor with fluid ball-handling which Eddie can't quite do comfortably. He certainly does have range but he can't shoot jumpers off his own dribble like Shareef. He's more of a set shooter. In the low post, he's very similar to Abdur Rahim. He can also get out and run. Defensively, he's an animal. Goes to the glass hard, rebounding and blocking shots. He's not an on the ball defender like Tracy McGrady, rather a weak-side defender. With that said, it's not like he's some slug who guys will blow right by. He will certainly atleast hold his own in one-on-one defense if he adds strength. If he reaches his potential, Eddie will be a very special player with his rare combination of steady/simple offense and workhorse defense.
Thanks for a great comparison cabbage. I would really just be happy if he were to play like robert horry plays in the playoffs. ------------------ I am an invisible man.
JAG, I think you might be right on about Larry Nance but from what I've seen, I think Eddie has a better all-around game. ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak.
