...It looks like the Front Office has. Have they fallen asleep at the wheel, or have they decided to pack it in for the year? Once TMac went down, whjy did we not go after one of the FAs on the market who coulda helped us? Jackson, Thomas, hell Spree, anyone woulda been better than doing nothing. I love our guys, but anyone can see that we just don't have any legit starters outside of Yao and Skip on the floor right now.

I love this team, yet every game I continue to ask myself, why does not CD get on it and sign a FA for the remainder of the year to help us? Or at least sign a shooter like Hoiberg who will be ablke to hit a open jumpshot or two. yes I know they dont play defense, I don't care, we have enough defensive specialists who can't play a lick of offense. I just don't see the FO having any sort of direction at all right now. Whether this has anyhting to do with the rumors about CD leaving or him and JCG having a bad relationship, I don't know, but what I do know is that we fans are sufering because this FO cannot get its head out of the sand to take a peek at some options available on the FA market.

The only thing that I can think of is the front office thinks the type of guys you seem to want (shooters/scorers) will hinder the development Yao seems to be showing right now. I don't want some free agent jabroni with a star mentality coming in here thinking he's the man and doesn't have to pass it to Yao. I guess they'd rather Yaolearn to be "the man" on this team, even if it sucks, because he can apply the aggressivenes he's developed next season when (hopefully) the team is healthy again.

It's not always as easy as it sounds.

First there is a reason these guys are out of work.

Second there is no way that the guys who are not playing anywhere are in playing shape.

Third we are on the outside looking in, Jon Barry could of gone to Denver (a playoff team) but did not realizing they are not gonna win a title.

trial by fire eh? I guess it's feasible, but then that would mean they're giving up on the season for bigger gains next year. We also call this TANKING

Without Tmac, do you really think any of the FA can bring us back?

No, but it would make our team more competitive, nad maybe we can find someone who might mesh in well next year, since our bench is just plain bad.

I don't know what to think. I know this, the Rockets sorely miss Sura, James, Barry, and Padgett. Essentially, they now have no shooters (role players). Especially with Wesley out, although he has been very inconsistent. I have been harping on the sub-par supporting cast since the beginning of the season. The only changes have been the addition of players that really don't address the team's major problem, shooting. This is looking more and more like a ship without a rudder, compass, or sails.

Last off season was supposed to be the best ever. Obviously, JVG sees Alston as the PG of the future, I don't. Good bench player. Somebody saw Swift as the "answer," he is not. Somebody saw DA as the "shooter," he wasn't. The Rockets can't survive another round of bad decisions. They need the luck of the Irish in the draft, number one would be sweet, though they might draft Ryan Bowen, Jr. This off season is critical. However, the current "management" team inspires no confidence.

WAke up. This is Houston, not New York, Chicago or LA. In New York, Knicks throw money around, they burn cash for fun. In Houston, money is more important. Therefore, you need a great personnel guy to make right decisions.

What's the point in being "more competitive" when we're not making the playoffs? Any free agent we sign will be some old, over the hill has-been. Last thing we need to add to the team right now.

If you're not going to marry a girl, whats the point of being nice to her and taking her out on dates?

New Orleans is droppin like a sack of potatoes and I still don't think the Lakers have enough to make it to the playoffs. Kings are in for sure. If Yao continues this type of play I'm sure we're going to make it. The game in LA will be the ultimate deciding factor IMO.

    I STILL BELIEVE!!!!!!!!

The Rockets still need to at least try to sign someone. I don't believe in just giving up. I still believe there is someone out there that help in the short term. Hell if this person can play well they could win a gig for next year for someone else.

Teams sucking in the regular season usually do following things:

    1. Make significiant trades, shake up the roster. See this year's Kings and Pacers trade. Ron Artest is huge for the Kings.

    2. Fire the head coach, try someone new to revive the team. See last year's Nuggets.

    3. If the team think this year is over, then they usually trade expiring contracts for future projects and wait for next year.

The fact that Rox has done none of those is amazing. They basically just cut people, trade or sign some NBDL caliber players to do the patch job and pray the injuired players to get healthy. Nothing has been done to save the season. Worse, I don't see they have a clear plan for the future. The incompetence of the front office is more worrisome.

It is very clear that we are playing for next year.

Get Yao some more confidence, get the young guys some valuable playing time, and if we lose a bunch of close games, the guys will think..."if we only had a healthy Tmac"....

Thus they come back next year with a decent lottery pick, a more confident Yao, and a healthy Tmac....

    I can't wait for November baby !!

i agree. if the goal is to make the playoffs, it is the front office's responsibility to acquire players that will help out. signing "The Mayor" fred hoiberg would be a good step. hell, it would help yao's development to have someone out there that can knock down an open shot.

How about let yao be the shooter and practice his 3 and design some O for him to shot 3s, I bet he will hit much more than our guards. :D
WoW a 7-6 shooting guard. and he can pass, maybe he can do triple d. :D

Missing the playoffs wont be the end of the world! I'll still go out of my way to watch Yao get 30/10 and who knows, maybe with more playing time, we'll have a couple more players step up and show us what they've got for next year.

I still don't think it's over though, unless Yao's supports think it is. It's always been about what they can bring to the table, and I refuse to believe that Raefer Alston is our 2nd option despite what recent boxscores have said.
