Guys, I need some advice/your opinion. I got a ticket a month ago for no seat belt going through the u-turn under the freeway at 45 and Crosstimbers. Anyway, the arraignment is set for tommorow, at 7:00 p.m. Yep, u got it, same time the Rose Bowl come on. I had plans on watching the game at the sports bar with friends until I double checked the time of the court date and was floored. What do I do, better yet, what would you do?
its probably a prehearing you might not have to go to it that day. Just go the day after and have them reschedule a case or pay the fine. Eventually they'll send a letter in the mail saying your court case is 3 months from now. I think pre hearing gives you the opportunty to bargain with the D.A.
Maybe show a little responsibility and take this as a punishment for not wearing your seatbelt, bend over, take it like a man... pay your fine, say "I won't do it again, y'ahna" and you can be skippity doo out of the court in about 30 minutes in time for KICKOFF (nothing happens in the first few minutes anyway, man, the excitement is at the end when ALAB... I mean, UT says 'We are Champs Again!')... Be a good citizen, dude, and accept you did wrong and possibly they'll let you out quickly. There's nothing wrong with admitting it, and you'll feel better afterward. Take defensive driving?
Yeah I can, but I was wondering is a no seat belt offense considered a traffic ticket and do I have to take defensive driving to clear it?
A no seat belt is not a moving violation and therefore defensive driving is a no go. Go to court, pay the fine. Hell, these games usually don't start until 45 minutes after TV coverage begins anyways. It's why I took a vacation day on Friday. I'll be up way too late to be productive, and will probably still be legally intoxicated.
yepp, u cant take defensive driving for no seat belt. but if u really want to get it over with earlier, i think you can see the annex judge. i had court date today but went to court yesterday to get it taken care of cause i couldnt miss work today. anyway, call 311 and ask if you're able to get it settled earlier thru the annex judge. thats where i got all my info from.
I take it you never been to the courthouse on lubbock before. There is no such thing as being in there for 30 minutes. The courtrooms are full and it's first come first serve, not alphabetical order like old times. Sometimes the line wraps around the hallway. p.s. It's not about me being a bad citizen, if you read the initial post, it was just that I noticed that the court date and time coincide with the game.
Just go to court. The last thing you want to do is risk a warrant for failure to appear because of a football game.
Ooooooo... yes, I have, sir, a long time ago... and... now that you mention "old times", my last name starts with an A... If he comes at 5 and just pays the fine, won't he leave early, then? First come... first that's what she said...
