one of the more entertaining, and unintentionally revealing, moments from last night.

YOu mean the part after that you cut where he absolutely eviscerates McCain? On both the bracelet and on substance, and scores the best sound bite of the night?

Just shows how unprepared McCain is. He's deployed that tearjerker bracelet line about 1000 times during the campaign, he didn't think Obama and his team would have the perfect counter? No wonder he's doomed.

you mean the breathtakingly vapid, petty, cynical ploy by obama to score points, and where he couldn't even remember the the soldier's name?

seriously sam, obama's not worthy of emptying the soldiers' latrines, much less leading them in a time of war.

Both McCain and Obama looked down to their podium before saying their soldier's name.

What's the point of posting a clip cutting off someone in the middle of their sentence? I guess you guys were chapped from that scorching retort Obama whipped McCain's frail, transparent heart-string ploy up and down with.

I have a bracelet too. It says Livestrong on it. Therefore I know and care more about cancer than anyone who does not have said bracelet. Now there's some air-tight reasoning.

    Obama: "me too!"

Sounds like a lot of his foreign policies - see what McCain is doing, and agree with "John". It's clear who the leader is - it's McCain

Wrong and the answer Obama gave proved that. Obama did remember the soldier's name. Obama went on to point that contrary to McCain's assertion no soldier dies in vain. It was a great moment for Obama. Or do you believe that some soldiers do die in vain?

It was awesome, and took away what McCain thought was going to be an issue where he had a monopoly. Probably strongest point for either candidate the whole debate.

Response to what? Argument to what?

    He already refuted your "clip".

Is he supposed to respond to this school taunt style garbage?

Sounds like al-Maliki talking about Obama's plan for Iraq.

But that exchange was much, much more... the bracelets were given by two different families for two different purposes and that exchange perfectly encapsulated the divisions this war has created... by Obama responding the way he did, he completely took away the Repubs "Patriotism, troops, mission" crap and deftly unwrapped the flag McCain had wrapped himself in and stripped McCain of the bloody shirt he and the Repubs have been waving since this travesty started. McCain wants to be Douglas MacArthur leading the charge while Obama pulled out some Lincoln and reminded people of the horrific costs of war and by extension reminded everyone why they should be started only as a last resort.

For once, I'm finally taking the basso, bigtexxx, iroc it, and tj crowd exactly how I should have taken them a long long long time ago - as comic relief and nothing more. Thank you guys :)

I also noticed that only one candidate was wearing a lapel flag pin, and it wasn't John McCain.

Obama won this exchange I thought. Bam Counterpunch! No soldier dies in vain and his own mother of a fallen soldier story. I wish they'd keep these stories out of the debates though.

McCain looked like the adult last night, Obama looked like a naive child. Obama was visibly upset time and again last night, and was reduced to answering McCain's detailed answers with the typical platitudes that he reads from his teleprompters.

Let me step away from the partisan politics for a moment and make this statement: Obama is not ready to lead on foreign policy matters -- so much so that I am truly worried that he will cause considerable damage to our great nation. His naivete scares me greatly. He's just not qualified and lacks experience.

I agree, these stories silly. At this point, they are overused and for me they come off as totally disingenuine ...which is the opposite of the intended effect.
