Mickael Pietrus is torching the Lakers, who are down by 40 points to the Warriors in the fourth. Fans in Oakland are chanting, "Kobe sucks! Kobe sucks!" - goading the poor guy into getting T'd up. What a way to end the season for LA.

Good times  Something tells me the Lakers are going to be in Lotto-land for some time.

Good. If the Lakers lose to the woeful Trailblazers then they will be 2-19 over their last 21 games. Which compares to T-Mac's 2-19 start last year for the Magic. I hated the media saying crap like, Kobe wouldn't have let a team lose 19 straight. Well he's sitting at losing 18 out of 20 losses right now, so all those analysts can stuff it.

Sometimes, no matter how good an individual player is, they can still be brought down by crappy teammates and/or a lousy coach. Or in the case of Kobe, a misguided arrogance and selfish attitude.

yeah we should just do a 3 way trade w/ utah and lakers.

    utah gets Kobe
    lakers get moochie
    rockets get Ak47

of course we will have to do without moochie's services in the playoffs. but we can really root for the jazz to lose.

Kobe's supporting cast ain't chopped liver. He's got real players on the court with him. I'm really stumped as to how that team could do so poorly.

ditto. The only thing I can think of, maybe, is that the players don't like playing for Kobe.

Not like I mind or anything though. Time for some of the bandwagoners to jump ship. All aboard the rockets express --- choo choo.

I think you are drastically overrating the Lakers cast minus Kobe and Odom (who has been out for this slide). Jumaine Jones isn't awful but do you want him to be your second option on offense? Ditto Caron who has scored some points recently but only because teams are leaving him huge lanes to the basket while triple teaming Kobe. I am no huge Kobe fan but to blame the Laker's record on him seems a bit silly to me.

PS: The Lakers are starting Medvedenko at PF. This is arguably worse than the Rockets at that position...

to be fair, they didn't start medvedenko. he was the awesome backup to luke walton. grant, george, vujacic, cook, medvedenko was the bench with walton, jumaine, mihm, and atkins starting. that has to be as bad as whatever tmac was rolling with last year. caron butler is pretty much the only upgrade to that on a normal basis and that's probably like having drew gooden. nice but nothing to write home about. add in that both teams quit and you get 2-19.

when you say "real" do you just mean that they do in fact exist or that they're actually talented? b/c the nine people i just listed aren't.

Didn't the Lakers have pretty much the same team Miami had last year?

Picking Brian Grant's salary is the worst move ever. They're better off with a good lotto pick.

I remember - an excellent post. Sums up the Lakers perfectly.

That's what you get when you have a team full of small forwards. Team Kobe up with a decent center and a pass first, low mistakes point guard, and they'd be pretty good...

oh wait, that's what he had last year...

They kept it together for awhile but they have some real dissent in that locker room. Kobe is a real poison pill. He's trying, but he's still the scorpion that drowned by stinging the frog that he induced to carry him across the stream (bad metaphors here): "It is my nature."

Kobe is all about self, and it has been revealed just how much he misses the Big Guy.

Now you have Shaq's team as #1 in the East and the Fakers out of the playoffs.

As was said here, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Is this the first time the Clippers will finish ahead of the Lakers?

The Larry Brown era in LA was pretty good to the Clips, they finished ahead of the Lakers in 92 and 93. Neither team was that good, but for the Clips that's a triumph of epic proportions.

The Lakers' slide is partly because of suckitude and dissent, but partly because they quit on the season a while back and started playing for lottery balls. Losing 18 of 20 games at the end of the season is bad but not as bad as losing them at the beginning of the season when everyone starts out tied for first place.
