It's 11:30 and they have been shooting off fireworks for the last 1 hour. I usually don't mind this crap but I have a young child that I had a hell of a time putting to sleep. I thought I was SOL because I live right outside the city limits of Cedar Park. However, I read the law and the fireworks ban applies to areas 5000 feet outside of the city limits, so I called the cops on their sorry asses. Hopefully they will get the $2000 fine that they deserve.
Could you have walked over and asked them to stop shooting off their fireworks? I hope calling the police wasn't the first option.
It was because they are asses in the first place and they do this every July 4th and New Years. Like I said I don't mind fireworks but to start at 10:30 and go to midnight is ridiculous especially when our neighborhood is mostly full of families with young children.
Fireworks get on my nerves too sometimes but I never looked to see what the law said and call the cops on the two days that I would expect people to shoot off fireworks.
My neighborhood is bad in that people start shooting fireworks off 3-4 days prior to the holiday (4th, New Years) and a couple of day after. What is REALLY bad is that all of the streets are literally coverd with firecracker debris the day after the holiday. And, I mean, completely covered! There is a family that moved into the small house two doors down from me. A two-bedroom house and they have at least 10 teenagers/adults living there and, of course, each has thier very own car. So, the who street is practically blocked with thier parked cars. i called the cops on them for literally blocking people's driveways, but they happend to move them before the cops got there. Luckily, I am moving to a better part of town in a couple of weeks. I can't wait!
You should have at least called or talked to them. Now you're wasting the city's police resources on something that could have been easily resolved by a reasoned conversation with them.
You could have given the kid some nyquil or something along those lines to help the sleep process. And then if that hadn't worked, then you could have gone and said, please wrap it up soon, I've got a kid, blah blah blah. Calling the cops wouldn't have been my first move. But fireworks never really bothered me before, and I can't imagine it ever being an issue with me. But then again, I never had to wake up at 5:30am the next day to go work a 13 hour shift (like I do right now).... But I also haven't lived inside any city limits (for the past 10 years at least) until this year either....
Well no question about it you have defiently become old. You could have at least talked to them. Thats what people do on thoes hollidays thats life. I am not a fireworks guy and dont even watch em but i understand thats just how things are done. Thats was a low thing to do old timer. Even if you dont like them you should at least give them a heads up like " Hey guys mind cutting that out? I got a young one trying to sleep?" Then if they dont stop threaten to call the cops and if they continue call the cops.
not even my neighbors, but kind of the opposite. Just got back from cousins', and we were shooting LEGAL fireworks outside THEIR front of their garage. Their neighbors had a benz parked outside their front garage but we were nowhere near it. We stood like 5 feet from the car right next to the hose for safety purposes, but we shot the fireworks like 20 feeet from their car. At 9pm (west coast; i just got back from there), this b**** came out and said, "take those fireworks away from here before i call the boys out and they're dicks. Take that **** away." I'm like wtf? Just because we're standing like literally 5 feet from your car doesnt mean were lighting it there. I was the oldest there and they cussed at us, and my cousins are under 18.
OMG! how dare they have some fun on the two most celebrated days in the united states of america...those bastards! seriously - chill the **** up. you sound like the kind of guy that gets mad at sporting events when the guy in front of you cheers to loud. if you calmly explained the situation with them and asked if they could do it earlier next time (yes, they have the fireworks for this time, so they aren't gonna just not celebrate this time), then you'd have a reason to be somewhat mad the next time. but any neighbor who calls the cops on the other one for celebrating a festive day is in my opinion, a complete *******.
think if it was your benz. it's not if it's legal or not...it's that sometimes things can shoot out more than 20 feet. i would have done this kind of thing in the backyard...but he could have asked you guys in a much nicer way - so yeh, he was kinda an ass.
This is what I hate about the suburbs. ....coming from a guy whose screen name is sLaNd B a L L a...ughh is there any way to change our screen names on this site??
So you're saying his age (old) has an effect on firework reduction mediation? In addition to acknowledging his age (old) he should have talked like common folk do on holidays ~ perhaps some apple pie to break the ice as well? ____ This is solid advice coming from someone who is admittedly not a 'fireworks guy'.
Call the dang cops. Some things are obvious such as setting off fireworks at midnight in a residential zone where it's illegal and people are trying to sleep. I mean seriously, if rockbox talked to them, how would the conversation be? rockbox: hey guys. I'm trying to sleep and so is everyone else. Can you cut it out? them: oh really? we didn't know people sleep at night in their houses. We kinda assumed everyone enjoys loud explosive noises that set off car alarms and prevent any type of rest at all. We also didn't know people had to go to a thing called 'work', which requires them to wake up early in the morning. But now that we know, we will never do it again. We humbly apologize. The guys are obvious dicks. They know the **** would annoy people but they don't care.
Did you not even read his first 2 posts here, cdah? These idiots do this every 4th of July and the guy has a young child and I would imagine a job to go to in the morning. And how do you or anyone else not know that rockbox has tried talking to these "neighbors" before in the past? And 11:30 at night on a weekday is TOO LATE to be doing **** like shooting off fireworks. These jabronis should have done their celebrating earlier. I mean it is easy to rush to judgment here on rockbox, but if this situation happened to you just ONE time, I think all of you who feel he is a party pooper would see where he is coming from. Compound the fact that he has a youngun who was probably growing more and more restless and this situation has been like doubled in obnoxiousness. But I guess I am going to be biased here because I know what rockbox is going through. I have posted here at least twice the stories about my redneck neighbors and I thought for sure that they would be doing something like this - shooting off fireworks around midnight. But surprisingly, they did not - maybe I need to check on them to see if they are okay, LOL. One big difference between rockbox and me though is that I probably would have never called the cops - mainly because as upset as I would be at their inconsiderateness, I would not want hard feelings between them and me for me calling the cops on them. So, I would have probably just been stewing in my bed as that was going on.
