I just got back from doing something that I absolutely loathe doing....going to the grocery store and buying food. I racked up a $71.06 bill which is a lot higher than usual for me. I put it off as long as I can, but eventually, I have to go and replenish my food supply. I don't know why I hate going so much, but I do. Anyone else out there that loathes getting groceries like I do?
I hate it too. If nothing else, for the hordes of inconsiderate assholes there. I love how people feel like they can stop their cart in the middle of the aisle so they can study the back of every ketchup bottle. However, the store next to the law firm's new office is dead empty whenever I get off, so that's when I do my grocery shopping. Wasn't even that bad at 5:00 on the 3rd.
71 bucks? Aren't you a bachelor, Manny? Dude, the only stuff you should be buying are 30 packets of ramen noodle soup, a dozen cans of Chef Boyardee, and a case of soda Of course, if you buy that many items, you can't go through the express lane, but that's the sacrifice you have to make.
Hate grocery shopping. I use to live next door so I got use to buying food on the day I ate it. I'd just have the basics in the fridge. I don't know if I'm going to want sausage on thursday.
Man, I love to shop for food... I can spend an hour at the grocery store. I however hate to go clothes shopping.
I`m with rock. I love the grocery store, but loathe the clothes store. My girlfriend and I have a good system, I grocery shop and she buys all the clothes.
The worst part about grocery shopping is when you get home and have to haul it all inside. Plus I always go shopping hungry (a big no-no) so half my items are junk food. DAMN THE SYSTEM!
I love grocery shopping, it gives me the sole reason to jump in my car and leave my apartment complex... i go almost everday just to buy something... plus the grocery store I go to is next to Fry's... so I usually go there and make a mental list of all the things I plan to buy once I'm working again!
I hate shopping altogether, but it has to be done. I love my Randall's card for grocery shopping. I can go there and buy a ton of food that would cost me $70-120 at another store for $40-60.
He he its a lose-lose situation. I don't go shopping unless im hungry .... perhaps I should stop off to jack-in-the-box on the way to the store ....
I try not to go grocery shopping before 10pm because there are too many people standing in the aisles staring at stuff. What are these people looking at? Don't they have any idea what they want before they get there? Midnight runs to the grocery store are great. None of the confused zombies blocking my path down the aisles.
I love grocery shopping. I go to a Kroger that is two blocks from the SMU campus, so there is usually plenty of good "scenery", if you catch my drift.
here's a question i've always wondered about... if you work at the checkout line... do you concentrate about the job at hand while you work or does your mind wander? What exactly goes through your head as you mindlessly scan items for a neverending line of customers? Do you make jokes about the people in line, etc? Or do you strike up conversations? Just curious.
Plus, when you go at night, you can actually get to know the grocery clerks, because they aren't checking out hundreds of people an hour, so they actually remember you. I don't know, there is something about actually having a "grocer" that makes shopping for groceries much more personal and fun.
You don't know what frustration is until you try shopping for food in Manhattan. Be happy with your Flagship Randall's and super-big Kroger's. I've got crappy ass D'Agastino's and Associated Supermarket, where the aisles are 2 feet in width, the place is as small as a NY studio, the meat's expiration date is the date you're shopping (also with milk), they have 1 kind of bread (and it's $484.95), and their selection is almost as good as a government-run Russian market. Plus, did I mention the NY prices? Be happy with what you've got. It could be worse.
