I had a really bad dream that the Rockets drafted Przybilla, wouldn't that be scary

Well the Rocket's in typical Rocket fashion did go out and get this Przybilla guy. Then they went out and traded him for a Collier, who is basically the same player, oh but we got a pick too. Who cares they can wait and give us the pick in like 2007. This was a horrible draft. I wanted DerMarr but he was already gone, but there where better player availible than either of these two. Do I need to say it again "year after year I watch the teams I love make one bad personell move after another".

Need I say again, that pick will come next year unless it is top 10. And need I say again, this IMO was a very good draft for the Rockets.

Cheaters never win. Unless you play for LA that is.

    The last few drafts:
    1999
    #9 Shawn Marion
After that Ron Artest #16 (who, IMO is overrated) and maybe Kenny Thomas.

    1998
    #9 Dirk Nowitzki
After that only Bonzi Wells and Paul Pierce are any good (and they went #10 and #11).

    1997
    #9 Tracy McGrady
After him there's only Austin Croshere #12 and Mo Taylor #14.

There NBA draft is never real deep with star talent. There are only 1-3 sure things and then a half dozen or so marginal players, players with great college careers but are missing a few skills for the NBA. The #9 pick is not ideal to pick up a star player but it sure beats being 10. But as you can see the past few seasons the #9 picks have been solid choices. After that, it's hit or miss.

I didn't include 1996 draft becuz that was a unusually deep draft.

Very good draft? What? Collier and Langhi? Who? This draft sucked for the Rockets, who picked up no one that will be able to contribute. Okay, maybe (big maybe) Collier but Langhi will not be a contributor until he gains some weight. So what if we picked up a draft pick, especially one that isn't in the top 10. What good does that do? So we can draft more players with bench warming talents? The Rockets needs top 5 picks. Hoping to pick a gem at 10 or below is not my kind of strategy. This draft sucked.

10 or below draft pick sucks.

    But a #9 could've made a huge difference?

    Don't understand.

Hey slamn in case you havent heard next year will be an unusually deep draft especially with big men and the rockets will have 2-4 picks which would enable them to tade up to get their franchise center (eddy curry.. tyson chandler.. troy murphy...loren woods..brendan haywood..etc

Players drafted 10+ who are good NBA players:

Too soon to judge 1999 class in my opinion.

    1998 draft.
Paul Pierce, Bonzi Wells, Michael Dickerson, Cuttino Mobley, Rashard Lewis, Ruben Patterson, Keon Clark, Pat Garrity

    1997 draft.
Danny Fortson, Tariq Abdul-Wahad, Austin Croshere, Mo Taylor, Kelvin Cato, Brevin Knight, Cedric Henderson

Outlaw: I agree that there are winners after the 10 pick but those are 7-8 out of 30-40? Not a great percentage there.

I haven't look at next year's draft but the names you thrown don't impress me much. Haywood has the body but isn't dominating even at the college level. Loren Woods is a great shotbocker but lacks serious bulk in the NBA. They have one more year to improve but IMO not going to save the Rockets. And Chandler and Curry? Those are high schoolers with enormous height and weight advantage over their peers. Its hard to say...they may turn out like KG or Leon. I personally think the NBA should have a ban on high schoolers. It appears to be a deep draft next year IF a lot of underclassmen declare.
