Went to my wife's Christmas party tonight. Her boss always has really good door prizes (I mean really good) Tonights big prizes were a nice surround sound system and an 80 GB PS3, but instead of the usual draw for it, they decide to have a "Who wants to be a Millionaire" tournament. I ended up winning both rounds I played and got to choose what I wanted. I opted for the PS3, since I already have a surround sound system, so now I have to decide what games I am getting tomorrow as my Christmas present.
I was playing Lair for the first time earlier today (rented it after returning COD4). My advice to you is don't get Lair.
Thanks any other suggestions would be appreciated. But I cannot play FPS games because I get motion sickness. So no COD4 for me.
Nice. Most of the Christmas parties my employers have had you just get gift cards for $25-50. I have a friend who works at a place where their gifts are nice. She's won a new TV, DVD recorder, and digital camera the past three years.
Time Crisis 4, Rock Band? or Guitar Hero III, Virtua Tennis, Virtua Fighter 5. If you like platformers, Uncharted or Rachet and Clank. Racing, any NFS series, GT5 prologue, Sega Rally. RPG, Echanted Arms? ($20), or Oblivion ($30)? Sports, Nba 2k8, the college one and Madden 08? APF 08? is like $20. Downloadable games, Beats, Warhawk, Castlevania SoTn, Super Puzzle Fighter, this one casino game (actually kinda fun). Most of these games have demo's you can download. THey'll give you a feel for the game and make your decision easier.
I'd add MLB 07 The Show. It is best baseball game on the market...although the next one will probably be coming out pretty soon. Heavenly Sword is a great GOW-clone (better in some ways IMO), although you probably shouldn't buy it (at $60) unless you don't have any problems with 6-8 hours of gameplay with minimal replay value. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is kind of similar (although more for the hardcore), and has a lot more content I believe. I haven't played the full versions of these games yet, but I do have high hopes for Assassin's Creed, Folkore, Bladestorm, and Skate. Might want to check out demos of those games, or rent them to see if you might be interested too. I should probably describe what some of those games are like, but I'm kind of tired right now.
FIFA08 all the way! I also cant play first person games, i get nacious, it sucks bad! I wish I could, theirs gotta be something out there for us...
there is actually something you can try. Though it doesn't work for everyone. You can try any medicines for sea sickness (Like Dramamine). I have tried them and they always make me really sleepy so I can't play much longer than I can without them. Some people can take them without getting sleepy and they actually work for them. I am definitely going to be checking out some demos (once the hour long update installs). I'll probably buy one game tomorrow during my Christmas shopping time and then try out some demos before getting anything else. I am also getting a new 1080p HDTV in March so I am really pumped about that! One other question has anyone played Rock Band on it. I would consider getting GH3 but my son is getting a drum set for Christmas and I thought that Rock band might be a better choice for both of us to play together. we could even let my 3 year old be the singer
My favorite PS3 titles so far: 1. NBA 2K8 - Best sports game ever made, especially after the patch they just released this week. 2. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Like a cross between Tomb Raider and Gears of War. Fun gameplay, very pretty, and the sheer scope of the game world just seems huge. Not to mention some of the best dialogue ever in a game. 3. Rainbow Six: Vegas - Great, great game, but it's also a first-person shooter, so not for you I guess. 4. Tony Hawk's Proving Ground - I can't believe how under-publicized this was... maybe because of rival Skate, which is also pretty good. But not even Skate gives you total control over the board like the new Nail the Trick, Nail the Grab, and Nail the Manual mechanics in this iteration of Tony Hawk. I also have enjoyed Skate, Madden 08, Fifa 08, and Virtua Tennis 3. Assassin's Creed seems alright. Didn't like Resistance: Fall of Man or Call of Duty 3 much. Tony Hawk's Project 8 was pretty good, but the new one makes it obsolete.
If you're not going to play CoD4 online, you might as rent it and go through the single player one weekend. The single player, while fun the first time through, hasn't given me the urge to replay it.
I can't imagine you being disappointed with Rachet and Clank. Looking at it, it didn't seem like something I would like but I was flat wrong. It's a way better platformer than Uncharted and even a better shooter and has a great story and voice acting. It was one of the best times I've had with a game. Uncharted is pretty good. I thought it got repetitive in the 1st half but the twist towards the end spiced things up and although the story gets really cliche at the end, it's still a good play.
