So I went and got a skin test done a few days ago and the result came back positive. They said i have Latent tuberculosis and now I have to take Isoniazid and vitamin b6 every day for 6 months. the pharmacist told me this is pretty common among oriental people. Is this a serious concern? can i spread it to other people? my gf is freaking out and going to get tested soon.

    1) shouldn't you ask your doctor these things?
    2) i don't think latent can be spread. I wouldnt be concerned.

Shouldn't you speak with a dermatologist instead of asking for advice on a basketball board? Even a pharmacist is not exactly a voice of authority.

Believe it or not but there are many intelligent people on this board (outside of the GARM).

Too late for you. See a local veterinarian about being put down.

    Sorry.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latent_tuberculosis

Also called latent tuberculosis infection, latent TB or LTBI.

Latent tuberculosis is where a patient is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but does not have active tuberculosis disease. Patients with latent tuberculosis are not infectious, and it is not possible to get TB from someone with latent tuberculosis. The main risk is that approximately 10% of these patients will go on to develop active tuberculosis at a later stage of their life.[1][2] The identification and treatment of people with latent TB is an important part of controlling this disease.

It happens. The worst thing about it is that you'll probably get nauseous if you drink alcohol while on the INH.

What did your doctor say when you asked him these questions? He would be the one who knows why he is asking you to do this.
