I found two Indian food trucks (same concept as taco trucks)!

So last night I had food from a food truck called Desi Grill and More (12672 Veterans Memorial). Surprisingly, the food quality was excellent! It took about thirty minutes to make, but that was a good thing, because the guy made it from scratch. I think it's only open 5 PM - 12 PM though. There was also a sign for another one called Tandoori Nite (7821 Highway 6). I also read about one called Indian Food Corner (11200 S Wilcrest Dr) which is more Bombay style food. I feel for these guys and will frequent their businesses so they don't have to work in trucks anymore. You guys should give them a try too!

So if Taco Trucks are Roach Coaches, what are these things called? Curry...surries? (wince)

Interesting. Gotta give this a try. Food trucks are pretty common in India.

There's also one on Durham near I-10, in the Ace Hardware parking lot. I haven't tried it yet though.

ERR, there was one there but they were shut down, not sure the story but I called in a togo order recently and they informed me of the news. BUMMER, that place was sooooo money!! Those other spots are too far but Ashkas, the place that closed was just perfect.

It's not cheap you're right but it's worth it. I got chicken tikka masala ($7.99) and two naan (99 cents each).

30 minutes is a long time for a truck. People need to take their cues from NYC food carts.

Some of the Indian food on Hillcroft might as well have been made in a truck...

They used to have these things when I lived in Jersey City, NJ a few years back. It started out with one truck and then a rival company set up shop right across the street. They made good business, and food was pretty good. It took about 7 minutes to prepare Kathi (sp?) rolls and stuff like that.

I just heard the owner of this truck passed away from a heart attack, he was only 45. RIP

If there is a silver lining, His son has expanded the business to the point where they are in the UH food court though. So maybe he is in a small way achieving the dream his father had.
