I fixed my 360 (no more RROD)!!!

    A few weeks ago my 360 got the dreaded red rings and I was going to throw it away but a friend of mine told me to watch some tutorial on how to fix the red rings on youtube so I did and now my xbox is fixed haha! Here is the link to the tutorial in case someone need it:

    You will also need these (I got mine at Lowes):


    a) 8 M5-.80 x 10 Machine Screws #138433
    b) 16 #10 Flat Washers – Nylon #139065
    c) 16 5mm Flat Washers – Metal #138319
    d) Artic Silver thermal compound

    dude, Microsoft repairs the RROD for free. I had the same problem and I just sent mines in and got another one a few days later. I think they'll still take it in even if your warranty is expired, just as long as it is the RROD.

    Me and my cousin just did this exact same fix over the weekend, with no luck...which really sucks because we know we did it right. Oh well we will probably give it another try next weekend. (It has a 90% fix rate tho, unfortunately for us it seems like we fell in that 10% bracket)

    Are you sure you guys did it correctly every step of the way? did you remember to cook it for about 2 minutes before putting the case and power back on?

    Just to let you know, there is no permanent fix for the RROD. While it may work now, in a week, month or a year, you'll get the RROD again. I know from personal experience.

    Im not sure why people even buy the XBox. Thats like spending 20k on an american car.

    i know someone who buys RROD xboxes from people for about $40, probably does that exact fix, and resales them for over $250.

    It only took 7 days to get my 360 back from M.S. after the RROD.

    oh and yeah it was free

    You know where's my xbox? In garbage!

    i got one red light, famous error e74 and it's supposed to be fixed with "x-clamp fix" and I did everything just to get three red rings and power supply problem.

    now my xbox doesn't even turn on and i'm so frustrated i won't even try to fix it or send it to microsoft since it's flashed

    sure it's a great console, maybe the best out there (sorry playstation fan boys i was once too) but it has so many hardware failures it's unbelievable

    and btw thanks God it broke down, now i got the chance to enjoy life even more

    I do not see that comparison at all. xbox 360 is easily the greatest gaming system on the market, I have all 3 major one (360, PS3, wii) and it isn't even close imo

    i hope you dont ever have to send it back to microsoft.
    if you took the warranty sticker off you'll be screwed.
    i know a guy that fixes them(RRD) and modifies them. we never have to buy games. just download burn and play. :D :p

    no they do.

    I have a 360 Elite and I got the RROD I had a friend through the board give it to his friend for a 40 dollar fix.

    been working perfect since....maybe the newer elites do not have that problem I dont know

    I got my elite right when it came out
