Ok, so I FINALLY got my PS3 (well I'm picking up that 80G Metal Gear bundle today). To quote KG, "I'M CERTIFIED!!!!!!!" So now what, PS3 experts?? I have my HDTV (thanks tinman) and I'm ready to go. What games should I look to get, or should I just wait (I usually only play sports games)? What other accessories are a must have, besides an extra controller? Etc.... Oh, and since I expect answers to come from techies, is there anyway to take something you DVR'd (i.e. the Finals) and burn it to a DVD if you don't have a standalone DVD burner? I do have a laptop....
download NCAA 09 demo you might want a wireless keyboard and bluetooth headset storage device (sports game rosters)
1. First hook the PS3 to a high speed internet connection. Download the latest update . 2. Buy Resistance Fall of Man. Beat the game. Keep it in your collection .This is the best original launch title. Although your a little late to the party ,the game is like your official invitation . 3. Get nba2k8. Best sports game for the PS3. 4. Get COD4. 5. Its up to you if you want a wireless keyboard . 6. Smile and brag. Welcome to the club.
COD4 Get a bluetooth headset (plantronics explorer 220 is the one i recommend) Dual Shock 3 (if you really want to be "certified", get the white ds3 from Japan) GTAIV MGS4 PLAYSTATION EYE NBA 2K8 set up a media server through your router and computer to the ps3 to access all your music, photos, and videos through the ps3. Download themes for your ps3 www.allps3themes.com (accessible and you have the ability to donwload through your ps3's web browser) Have an AIM account? www.aimonpsp.com (works on psp as well as PS3) Really want to be certified? http://www.colorwarepc.com/p-99-playstation-3.aspx Add me on psn if you'd like
If you haven't played it yet, Oblivion is definitely a great game to check out. It might be a love it or hate it type game (fantasy Western RPG with nonlinear gameplay), but if you love it, you could spend 100+ hours playing the game. Should be pretty cheap nowadays. Besides that, might want to check out Uncharted (kind of like an Indiana Jones game), Ratchet & Clank (nice cartoony platformer/shooter), Heavenly Sword (cinematic God of War clone), and maybe a few other games I'm forgetting. They're all single-player only and relatively short, so you don't have to buy them (unless you find a great price), but maybe a nice rental or something. PixelJunk Monsters (Tower Defense-esque game) is a really nice downloadable game that you can download from the PS Store (think it is $8-$10). This is all in addition to the usual stuff already mentioned of course (NBA 2K, MLB 08, GTA IV, Resistance, etc.). In another 3-6 months, things will start to pick up, and you'll probably have another batch of games to check out (new NBA 2K, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, BioShock, Fallout 3, etc.). If you literally only like sports games, you'll probably be OK just sticking with MLB The Show, NBA 2K, and EA's football games (and possibly whatever other sports games you like). If you like another genre of games not represented well so far (racing, fighting, etc.), I (or someone else) could suggest lesser known but still great games (EX: Virtua Fighter 5). BTW, if you try MGS4 and like it, I'd recommend checking out the Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection. It has MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3, all of which should be playable on your 80GB PS3, and only for $30. A bit old by today's standards, and they certainly don't have the great graphics and gameplay found in MGS4, but it will flesh out the story a bit while also providing for some more of the MGS experience (EX: great boss fights). It seems to be backordered at some places though, so I don't know how easy it would be to find. Ideally, you'd play it before playing MGS4, but kind of hard to recommend it if you've never even played a MGS game before.
i dont game much (outside of the occasional fifa action), but being able to connect my external HD and stream music off the tronz through the ps3 which is connected to our home theatre system......... DAMN.
I need a storage device with 80G of memory? How on earth do I do this? What is the purpose for a wireless keyboard? Thanks y'all. As most know I am a tech rookie. All I know at this moment is that I'm supposed to hook it up to my TV via an HDMI cable.
tell me about it dude, its an awesome feature. I believe the 360 also has it. It's really easy to set up if you have Windows Media Player 11
you shouldn't. I downloaded NBA 2K8 Rosters from their online component directly onto my 74GB hard drive (its not really 80 btw)
