This is not a defense of the Tax "Compromise". Too many threads to discuss that issue. This is a particular thread on the complaints on Obama's demeanor and negotiating style. I never liked the cowboy draw the line in the sand negotiating style of Bush II. First of all I always thought it was a bit contrived, but even if genuine it only demonstrated the man's lack of ability to navigate through difficult issues. If you want to credit/blame anyone for that negotiating style working, you can blame weak democrats during his presidency. Bush got a lot of things done because he used 9-11 as political capital. Unfortunately that worked. Hey you don't do this, you'r putting us all in danger. hey democrats you don't want to look weak on defending our great union. I don't know what to say about the "compromise", i'm certainly have some dissappointment. but i'm not going to complain that Obama isn't Rocky. This is the real world
Bill Maher said it best. Obama needs to be more like Bush. http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/cspanjunkie/i-hate-say-it-obama-needs-be-more-bush
He's a pushover for the status quo. Unfortunately, Bush was responsible for lowering that bar for 8 years. Obama campaigned for change, and that has been far from what he's pushing. He should've campaigned on consistency, which would make him a capable president in a past era, but we collectively need to wake the **** up to the looming challenges that's been ignored for 10-15 years.
It seems like Obama is going the route of another recent President. I never was crazy about Clinton, but if Obama can balance the budget before November 12, I'll vote for him.
I don't have any problem with his compromise because to me that is the change he was talking about. I do have a problem with the shady way Health Care Reform and the recovery act compromises were made. If he could have held his word on making that type of change he would have me totally sold on him as the real deal.
The truth is, if he can get us onto a plan by Nov. 12 to have the budget balanced by the end of the decade, I'll vote for him. I'm giving him 2 years more than Clinton. It's a deeper hole, but it's a more urgent need, too.
who was one big ass mistake america? Clinton? I think people are just realizing it really doesnt matter who you have in office. A politician is a politician they are all basically the same. But with that said and I can't believe I'm going to say this but I sorta feel bad for Obama. The man cant do anything right. He does one thing he will get blasted from the right he finally compromises on something and he gets blasted from the left. I never understand why anyoe would want to be president. Especially since most of them can retire in comfort and luxury.
Didn't you say in another thread that you vote on only one issue, taxes? Since Obama has now lowered your taxes (again), shouldn't you be in his corner?
W's audience was foreign, the democrats construed it as domestic criticism, and tried to make political hay out of it. how's the hopey changey thing workin' out for ya?
ohh hahhh.. Well I woder how things would have been different it was Clinton or McCain that got elected. I think you will still have just as many pissed off folks.
Got to wuv it. So you will vote for the guys who want to raise the deficit another $700 billion on tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires. Libertarian "logic".
Hey let's defend Obama. His style is better than Bush, though he is no more effective and I would argue less effective, than Bush in pushing his agenda or even communicating it. Obama is smarter, too. Hey he has some of the same atrributes over Palin, so vote for him. Be happy.
I heard Bush can get some great blow, though. Obamatard claimed to have the green hook up...poser. Totally flaked out on that one....I've been waiting on "his guy" to call me back for 2 years now.
