Steve not signing until he sees Ming I could be blowing smoke.But I had a thought that I think might be the reason why Steve has not signed. First it was: I m signing without agent Then its: draft ming,Im leaving Then its:lets wait till salary cap is announced then its: lets meet in Las vegas and "talk" and now its : ? why hasnt he signed? By selfish steve not signing yet,he is making the rockets worse because we cant make any other moves(ie trades for a backup sg) until steve is signed. Im pissed My only thought,is that steve is making up excuses (see above) until he actually sees yao play in the world champoinships: And guess what happens if ming has a bad game in that ONE game on augest 30?,steve will probably demand trade like quitten did.remember how pippen waited until late augest to demand trade. My own guess: And I've posted it before: Steve and Yao will sign their contracts at almost the same time, maybe at virtually the same time. Better press release that way. (Yao will be in the States when...? Soon.) And maybe we're also trying to pull off some other trade and want to get that done at about the same time, too, although I put less stock in this one.

Its only been a couple of weeks since the Mayo Clinic visit and since, he's said he wants to talk about the direction of the team which is something every player should do before committing long term to a team and a team should do the same w/ players. Honestly, I think this guy has a point. I know he's "ASSuming" but Steve was saying he would definitely resign before we got the #1. He's not concerned about money, he just wants to win. He's not completely sold on Ming, but if Ming looks good than he will WANT to sign, not be scared off. I can't believe some people here say Steve would leave because of the threat of Ming & Griffin becoming super-stars and taking away his spotlight. That is ridiculous. Kobe & Shaq might have their little quibbles, but they both ge plenty of attention. I think Francis can co-exist and benefit from the development of Ming & Griffin, but he wants to make sure the investments the team made are looking good. I know it isn't so great to question managment, but it's smart to see what you're getting yourself into. Anyways, I think Steve will resign and everything will be good come October 31st. You can't sign a contract just like that. Even if both sides are on the exact same page, it takes a few weeks to hammer everything out.

Uh.... I do not believe the salary cap numbers have officially been released yet...have they? IF they haven't released the numbers yet , it would be hard to put a contract together. Besides, he is not a free agent, he going to sign an extension. Don't worry...be happy
Extremely misleading thread title there thebestfan. Also your mathematical proof of your theory was quite entertainingly farstrectched. Steve has another freaking year on his contract bro. They are just going to extend him early. Calm down. When a player is talking about extending early then you know he wants to stay. Unlike the situation in Seattle where Lewis's contract is actually up and he is not signed to play for anyone next year yet. In the future if you think something and don't know it just title your thread "Possible that Steve is waiting to see Ming before resigning?" or something that lets people know you don't have an article link or something.
