This is a little old but why did Carl Landry get fined for standing up? Every game that I have watched players have stood up. There has to be something else to it. It had to be personal between him and Stern. He did not do anything different than any other player would have done. Whats the deal?

I know this doesn't have importance now but I am just curious.

i love seeing players stand up and i deff took not that landry stood up more than any other players after nice plays early in the season. its a dumb rule but hes just been made an example of by the league. i kno those people paid alot to sit in those seats but i care more about team chemistry than 10 seconds of people(who have much more money than me) having to look at landrys back while the ball is inbounded. i really dont think players have been taking the rule seriously and the leagues trying to change that.

Another team got fined a week or two ago. It's not just him. The NBA doesn't want the fans with expensive seats behind the bench to complain.

It's bull**** and Stern just picks whoever he wants to fine. I seriously think the refs along with Stern and Co. have it in for Rick Adelman (and the teams he coaches). How can a guy with 2 NBA finals appearances, great seasons year in and year out, overachieve and only get the asscrack ?

1992 finals - probably got screwed because MJ was just what Stern needed so he helped him along his little 3-peat and did it again when he came back his first full season until he retired. The Bulls didn't have that great a team and it wasn't for some bull**** calls, the Rockets would've gone to the finals in 1993; they were better than the Suns that year too.
2002 playoffs - most disgraceful rigging ever
2008 playoffs - the russian manwhale screaming negating the tying three by Bobby Jax ? Battier out of bounds ? Boozer's nasty elbow to Landry no suspension ?
2009 playoffs - Kobe goes all out nasty and gets nothing ? Artest plays under control and gets ejected twice ? Fisher gave Scola almost a concussion and gets a 1 game suspension ? Game 7 goes who's the reffing crew ?

Probably more things but since Stern and Adelman both have German surnames and Stern in fact Yiddish (Jews) is, Stern still holds a grudge for WW2. Nobody can deny the resemblance between Hitler and RA especially with his haircut back in the day and moustache. It is farfetched but I can't remember a coach having to deal with more **** than Rick Adelman and there's must be a reason.

yall need to read the rule....they can't stand up for a long time...so it's not as simple as he stood up, he stood up for a long time.....i havent seen the vid, but that has to be the reason, otherwise they would have protested the fine..

It's up to Stern, who decided whom should be fined for that bull**** rules standing up long and blocking the view of the lower row audiences.

If they stand up, that means every one inside the arena got fired up and into frenzy, they will get on their feet to cheer the team on. Why bother developing this kind of rules to abstain from cheering off the bench?

Took the words right out of my mouth. Queen James and his peasants stand up allll the time. I was watching one of their games last week, and it was pretty ridiculous. I guess the league really enjoys watching Lebron do this totally awesome dance moves....... ;)
