Help me out here.....in my opinion, Jay Williams is the only obvious lock in the draft to be a superstar. Why is there barely any talk about the Rockets drafting him?? It seems as though the media has made it seem like a no-brainer that the Rockets will take Ming or trade down, but, correct me if I'm wrong, the Rockets higher-ups have said nothing of the sort. Hopefully, the Rockets will pull another draft-day shocker and take him. Maybe they are just downplaying talk about him because they don't want to tip their hand. There is no telling what that back-court will do, and, hell, if he doesn't fit well into the teams chemistry I guarantee that there will be plenty of willing takers next year that can offer us just as great of a trade for Williams as we can get this year for the #1 pick. The guy is going to be a stud. Let me know what you guys think.
giddyup started it in another forum. Check out the responses. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34179 I'll repeat myself: I think the Rockets perceived lack of interest in Jay Williams is a combination of the following: 1) Not wanting to confuse an already difficult negotiation process with China who clearly wants Ming taken #1. 2) A desire to keep trade conversations about Ming OR Williams at a very private level. Do I recall that the Rockets have a history of leaks to the press damaging their position? Anyway, if there is a team making a legit offer for Williams I don't think the Rockets management will hang up on them without a good long listen.
It is perceived that picking Williams will anger Franchise because of his statement on draft day. For some reason, that is a cardinal sin or something.
june 26th i think we will draft ming. i also think its 50/50 on weather he gets traded or not. if you hear "jay williams" called with the number 1 pick, you can bet 100% that he wiil be traded.
The Rockets are convinced of two things: 1. Their backcourt is set. 2. Steve Francis is their point guard. Knowing that means taking Jay Williams would be pointless unless it was specifically to trade him.
Because he shoots free throws almost as bad as Shaq. Because he would not fill a weakness we have. Because he BLEW a game deciding free throw. Superstar Stud??? Who knows, but no lock for a superstar yet there. How many teams went to the finals on the power of a point guard??? None I know of.
Yeah, Thomas was ok. Jordan was solid too. Kidd's not bad. What do you think about Iverson, Stockton, and Payton?
