just something to remember... T-mac's most memorable moment as a rocket <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nfurCV1FDpM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nfurCV1FDpM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Man hard to believe that was only a couple of years ago. We need to get T-Mac into that kind of mentality again...if that's even possible.
truly memorable moments. looking back, we had a still-healthy mcgrady, a not-so-dominant yao, and a bunch of average or subpar players. yet we gave dallas fits that year in the playoffs. seems like yesterday.
I wanted to say that but didn't want to get flamed. That was an amazing finish but hardly an example of what this team needs to become. That kind of stuff doesn't win you games more than once a decade. Again, sensational stuff and I love watching it but the fact that it took something that spectacular to barely win a game means we didn't do enough in the first 47.5 minutes.
It may not seem like that long ago but that's more than a couple years ago. That was FOUR years ago. Time flies.
Say what you want about Tmac being bad, or all that crap. That was one of the greatest moment in Rockets history, if not THE greatest. The only other arguable moments were produced by Hakeem. And really, people need to get off this "Tmac sucks" bandwagon and remember where we came from. We traded Francis and Mobley for Tmac and Juwan Howard (who was traded for Mike James, who was traded for Bobby Jackson, who was traded for Ron Artest). He's no Kobe, but he's a Rocket and if you can't appreciate that then GTFO.
Seriously? Why does any of that matter? The guy just wants to talk about an incredible ending and all you can talk about is how that doesn't win many games or how we didn't do well enough in the first 47.5 minutes. A win is a win. This wasn't just any win, this was one of the most miraculous comeback win in Rockets history. Hell, even Jim Foley himself mentioned that it might be the one of the most greatest comebacks in Rockets history after the game. Of course you wouldn't know anything about Rockets history because you only came here because of Brooks. And I bet if Brooks did this, you'd be talking about how he's the next superstar PG in the NBA, blah blah blah.
My knowledge of the Rockets basically extends to right before the championship years, but thats why I said "one of the best". I can think of a few in the title runs that might be comparable (the two comebacks against the Suns, Hakeem's demolishing the Spurs, or just winning two titles in general). But most of those moments were great because we won the title. This was just a regular game early in the regular season, and you are talking about one of the greatest comebacks possibly in the history of the NBA. If he had done that in a playoff series he would be a legend in the NBA right now. The fact that a ****ing regular season game is in the mix of greatest moments of all times with title clinching wins tells you how extraordinary of a 30 seconds this was.
I moved to Houston in 2002 and started following the Rockets because I was a Terps fan and grew up in the same neighborhood as Francis in Silver Spring. I'm not an old school fan but I didn't come here because of Brooks. I joined this site around the time Brooks was drafted and was impressed by his play so I incorporated his name into my username. And you're right, I don't have an enormous knowledge of Rockets history either way. I grew up in D.C. I probably know a lot more about the Redskins and Caps than you. Oh yea, and my e-weenie is bigger than your's. As far as comebacks, that wasn't just the best comeback by an individual in Rockets history, it was probably the greatest of all-time, even ahead of Reggie Miller's. I was actually responding more to post #3 more than the OP. Wishing for T-Mac to have some of his athleticism back would help, but running up the court and shooting/making 4 contested shots in a row is not a good example of what this team needs. Yes, it was a great finish. I have it on my DVR and burned to disc. But I'm wishing for much bigger and more practical things for this team than Tracy shooting contested long bombs in the last minute to win games.
they should show this video during one of our home game,, to remind tmac how good he was....to show tmac this is what it takes to win a champion
Yea, maybe T-Mac can dribble the ball up the court and not pass it 4 times in a row, hitting a contested 3 each time and getting fouled once for a 4pt play... and do this for 16 playoff games. That's what championship teams do, right? If he can do that, not only does he get the monkey off his back, you can mark him down as the greatest athlete of all-time and guarantee he will hold on to that honor until The Sun burns out.
