WE HAVE A TRADE! THE HOUSTON ROCKETS TRADE THE RIGHTS TO JASON WILLIAMS FROM DUKE AND KELVIN CATO TO THE LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS FOR LAMAR ODOM AND MICHAEL OLOWAKANDI....
AND THEN WE TRADE AWAY OUR TORONTO PICK AND KT FOR SOMONE ELSE. IT WILL BE A GREAT NIGHT.

    Nice dream won't happen.
My prediction who gets the #1 New york.
Then everyone can honestly say this draft is rigged

New york will draft Jason williams or Yao ming to satisy all the new yorkers for another dominant center
Stern will get a woody just thinking about New york getting the #1 pick.
    It is all fixed.

"We have a trade to announce. The Rockets have traded their #3 pick to Sacramento for Scott Pollard and a bag of peanuts."

Ok, people say, "the draft is rigged" - and my question is this : HOW?

I have no doubt Stern wants the Knicks to get Ming, but I don't see how he could go about doing it, especially under the watchful eye of the other representatives from the lottery teams - it just seems too hard to do.

Poodle...Are you sure each team has representatives watching the actual pingpong ball drawing?? I always remember seeing the reps from each team sitting at a table anxiously awaiting the calling of draft order by Stern......I thought only the audit agency retained watches the drawing - and we all know their legitamacy and honor code is a crock of shhhhhhhhh

I'm tired of people saying that the draft will be rigged in the favor of the New York Knicks. What proof is there to prove that? Just because David Stern wants Ming on the Knicks, does not mean he will do something unethical as rig the draft. I've never heard of a rigged draft before!

well, I know this: if the knicks do NOT get the top pick and Yao Ming, then it should be finally concluded that the draft is not rigged.

There are no ping pong balls. Doesn't a computer do the random drawing of numbers? If that's the case, then it's too damn easy to weight the drawing in the source code... and I'm sure not too many GM's read source code too well. :D

... put that in your conspiracy pipe and smoke it!

Actually it is done by ping pong balls you dork. There are about 39-40 balls in a container. There are 3 balls labeled "0", and 4 balls of "1", "2", all the way till "9". The Rockets have 89 combinations out of a possible 1000.

I think there is a team representative for all participating teams that view the "ball drawing" and then there is the representative who waits to hear the result sitting outside on camera.

Bingo amigo. Each team's reps are present and so is some outside party.

Of course the balls could be weighted prior to this gathering.

How do they assign the combinations? Not how many, but the actual combinations that will win it for them.

It is impossible for the league to rig the lottery. Inconceivable. Would never happen in a million years. Stern isn't that kind of guy and I doubt any owners are involved in conspiracy theories. Impossible to rig the lottery. Doesn't Anderson Consulting regulate/check the results anyway? Impossible to do so.

I wonder if MJ wished he would have gotten the #1 this year though?

If Jordan hadn't played, the Wizards may well have gotten # 1
