I like Complicated, Skater Boi and all of her other songs. I love her voice and the background music. I am the only guy on the board that likes her songs? I also like her as a person, because she is one of the only singers that is really hot and doesn't dress like a skank, and isn't a phony, and isn't afraid to act like herself. So am I just weird, or do any of the dudes in here that like her songs?
grrrrrr I liked her first song, but they are all starting to sound the same musically and content wise. Still I respect her for being herself.
Skater Boi isn't punk. She isn't punk. When she says she is, she sounds phony because she's supposedly anti-pop. Oh well, I don't buy her records, and I can watch her music videos on mute...
She is a totally artificial creature of marketing, just like Britney, Christina & Co and is as fake as they are.
I find 'Complicated' really irritating - the lyrics are overly wordy and the rhymes are really, really forced. And she definitely isn't punk - I don't see how anyone could think otherwise. She's just another bland pop singer whose gimmick happens to be downplaying her looks (to some degree - she's not exactly dressing in army fatigues).
I don't really care about her music enough to buy it...but i think she's cool cuz she's willing to be herself and not have to be a slut to be popular, cuz she's canadian , and cuz she's kinda hot.

It's like someone else already said - she is manufactured and lmao that she is "punk". If she heard The Clash, Buzzcocks, Damned, or even old Offspring (pre-Americana), Avril would curl up in a ball into the fetal position.

I think that is what makes her so hot is that she looks great in baggy jeans and just a regular tank top, instead of having wearing practicaly nothing like Christina and Britney.
Avril is as carefully marketed as anybody. She has "street teams," publicists and stylists that manipulate things like Total Request Live to get her airplay on Mtv, cultivate her "spontaneous" look and create her music. She may be a market reaction to the Britney Spears of the world, but she is still a market creation.
I wouldn't go out of my way to hear one of her songs.... plus how do you rhyme 'back' with 'relax'?? Taken from her song 'Complicated'. It's actually on the radio at this very moment.
