I have been a Laker fan for over 20 years. I love the Lakers. However, in my years as a basketball, I often have a second team besides my Lakers.

I once followed the Celtics closely next to the Lakers since I enjoy Bird's game. I wanted them to win unless they played the Lakers.

I followed the Knicks for a couple of years since I lived in NYC from 1991-1993 and the Knicks was basiclaly the only team I got to watch.

After that I followed the Rox for a few years and luckily they won the championships. I did that because I liked the Dream. I also wanted to see how Drexler would do and then Barkley. Drexler got his ring, but Barkley did not.

I did not really follow any other teams after the Lakers got Shaq. The fun time started then.

I start to follow the Rox again, because of Yao. I am rooting for him and the Rox, of course, except when they play the Lakers.

Thanks, Bob. This thread about Francis dropping stat is really an issue. It's hard to imagine that he can be happy about that. But, his sacrifice and changing in his game has surely helped the team. I hope he accepts that and continue to improve in the direction that the team needs him to. Cream always finds its way to the top. If Kobe can shine in the shadow of Shaq there is no reason why Steve can't excel with Yao. Currently though, his on courst body language seems to show he is not that happy about things. Is it just me or anyone else sense the same?

How can a glorified streetballer with low Basketball IQ be the topic of discussion in a Laker forum.

As a Laker fan, I have seen far more serious Laker haters. When the CNNSI board was still alive, there was a lady named "DIVA" who I believe was the ultimate Laker hater ever. She proudly caled herself a "Lakahata" and bashed every Laker fan that posted there. The board moderator had to warn her and eventually removed her. Her posts were the start of the fall of that board.

When you are the best, you will definitely get a lot of haters. MJ's Bulls did, and now the Lakers are.

By the way, your apologies accepted.

Well, this just goes to show they have no clue what they're talking about. I honestly can't remember the last time Steve ran a successful fastbreak. If anything, fastbreaks are what brings down SF's FG%. Honestly I think he's the worst PG at running a fastbreak.

    >>i might be wrong, but here is what i think is wrong with Steve >>Francis!!
    >>it is JVG and his system!! he has probably told the team to >>stop fastbreaking as much, slow down the game and focus on >>getting the ball to Yao and play defense!!

    >>less fastbreaks will lead to Francis having a lower FG% and >>also lower his PPG!!

    >>but then again, i havent seen a single Rockets game, so i am >>just assuming this on the style JVG likes to play!!

That's not true. Just last night he and Cat finished a 3-on-1 break against a passive defender with an alley-oop. Just ask JVG, the %'s don't get any higher than a lob pass on a 3-on-1 break. ;)

Um, I hope you know I was exaggerating. OK so he finished 1 fastbreak this season, happy? Want me to count the number of 3 on 1 fastbreaks he blew?

IIRC, kidrock8 was a huge Lakers and Kobe fan but also followed the Rockets. I haven't seen a Rockets or NBA post from him since last season. Perhaps kr8 posted something in the D&D forum that got them banned?

Over the years, I have been unable to root for or be sympathetic to the Lakers. Former Laker Wilt Chamberlain said it best..."Nobody roots for Goliath". IMO, if you do not live in or near LA and you have never lived in or near LA, you are just a band waggoner rooting for a perennial winner.

Personally, I prefer blue collar to showtime. :)

    BS.

I know lots of people who couldnt stand the frikkin Bulls.
    Myself included.

I respect Jordan as a player, but to claim that everyone loved the Bulls is the ultimate in assumption.
Just becasue you and your buddies love to bandwagon a winning team, dosnt mean everyone else in the country is that way.

I always root for the underdogs...if the Rockets were not in the postseason...I would root for anyone rather than the Bulls.

Hell, just last night on an old Cosby show rerun, I saw two of Vanessa's dates talking basketball. One guy says he a Rockets fan, and the other one agrees. That had to been around 1989.

Why do you hate Jordand and the Bulls? Is it because Jordans' Bulls won 6 championships? Or is it because Houstons' 2 championships dont get much merit because Jordan wasnt there to defend his throne?
