One has to wonder if moestavern19 had a sizable investment riding on the outcome of that game.

 

Doesn't matter whether there's a conspiracy against the Raiders or not. They suck all by themselves right now.

 

Did you guys catch the end of the Falcons-Saints? Tie game, with like 6 seconds left, the Falcons are attempting a 45 yard field goal. The kicker misses but holding is called on the defense. The replays showed that the hold in question had absolutely no bearing on the play. Falcons kick again and win. The FOX announcers were not only speechless but disgusted.

 

Was it actually a hold, though (I didn't see the game)? Whether or not a penalty affects a play has no bearing on whether it is or should be called. Holding calls away from the ball are made all the time.

 

Yea, it was a hold. I just wouldn't call it in THAT situation to decide the game when it has no bearing on the play.

 

I thought this was going to be another thread about the Vikings lake cruise.

 

I can see that, but I'm not sure I want umps decide what is or isn't an important enough penalty to call either.

I feel your pain. I know we have been getting hosed on some calls this year but whats new? In the KC game the phantom "pushing off" on Moss to negate a TD that probably cost us the game. Also Moss has been getting mugged alot and plenty of no calls-however if Woodson breathes funny on a reciever its interference. I have been so pissed off a few times that I almost quit watching the games of the team I love because of what I felt were unfair calls. Every time a important call could go one way or another I just knew it was going against Oakland.

The Raiders however havent needed any help from officials to kill themselves in some of these games (Jano's 2 missed FG's vs Philly comes to mind). We have to get past the questionable calls and look at the problems we can correct like no run blocking and no pressure on opposing QB's.

Trust me, I know its difficult but hang in there Moe, the nation needs your support.

I disagree on this. You mean that if a player who has no bearing on a play on the opposite side of the field punches an opposing player, he shouldn't get penalized? Please explain why you highlighted that you wouldn't call it in THAT situation. A penalty deserves a flag NO MATTER WHAT SITUATION no matter WHAT PLAY. If it is against the rulebook in any way, it should be flagged. Period.

Darn, with the Astros clawing their way into the World Series (please, god, if you're up there!!), and the NBA getting cranked up, I hadn't really noticed.

Hell, I haven't noticed it much since the Oilers left Houston. Sometimes that bothers me. Right now, it bothers me not at all.

 

I am enjoying the NFL. I am an Eagles fan and the NFC East is looking mighty competitive early on.
