.....consistently on top of all the issues related to the rockets. In the last month or two we have introduced and discussed topics only to see them show up on the Chronicle soon after. I know it happened before that but it just seem to be a regular happening recently. Now I cannot go down the list of all these times it has happened but the most recent one is today's article on team leaders. This has been one of the more popular discussion points up to yesterday. The whole issue with maturity.

Interesting that Rudy needed to talk to them about some of the very things that some posters, who were called out, thought our leaders where not bringing.

A couple weeks ago we stood up and recognized the improved play of KT and next thing you know Chronicle has an article on KT being the most improved player. Weeks before that a similar thing happened with Mobes.

I guess I should not be surprised when you consider so many of us watch every game, sometimes more than once, and as a community, we are able to pool or capture all the possible angles/issues on the team for consideration.

    Thanks Clutch!

Having said that I would be surprised if the board is not monitored by both team officials and the Chronicle.

Of course it is monitored, and glad to see Rudy dicussing the lack of leadership.

As for articles, most journalists will look anywhere for a story, and if they find one here...then great.

I think this board has enough savvy people and apparently the Rocks organization and the chronicle think so too.

I think it is more a case of stating the obvious. If a large number of posters notice something then a writer from a major paper in major market, who is paid to notice these things, should pick up on it as well.

Now, with that said, I have seen rumors pop up on this board about 2-3 days before anyone else prints it. I know they have to search the boards for that type of stuff. This site has even been credited for that.

    Steering the media...ya think?

The Chronicle writing something after big fan debates in radio or internet I'm sure has some truth to it, but I'm sure it is partly a phenomenon of projecting your own ideas into everything around you. People become more aware of news angles when they actually have debated them. Often the media is a reflection of mass voice, but at the same time, the media can be aware of an angle without confirmation with polls or fan feedback, certainly in sports.

that said, my personal favorite media-steering event is that Fran Blinebury seems to have stopped writing about the Rockets ever since CBFC, his l'il brother fromobile, and I started embarrassing Fran with a Fran Blinebury Fan Club after his cheap shot at Cato. I still think he needs one of those cheesy Geocity websites for the club. lol! Plus, I'm sure Les has been laying down the pressure on the Chronicle for the Hakeem's Final Revenge article. Notice Fran didn't even write an Hakeem article for the Homecoming game. Not one peep.

If you have nothing else better to do than play with your bobblehead, look for an apt, and find a summer job, like BGM and DMonkEy, please join the club, it is getting results ... hehe

I'm willing to bet that beat-writer Jonathan Feigen is the one everyone can thank for following this BBS closely. I think he is one of the better beat-writers of basketball I've seen. There aren't too many who will discuss plays and analyze the team, for instance. Not every game, but it is appears he does follow development aspects of the team and picks his moments to have talks with the team to get some facts straight. I think he delivers the great quotes, because the coaches respect his knowledge and trust his objective writing.

I'm a big fan of scrutizing every word he writes. His NBA Page on Sundays is outstanding (and funny). DearRock, if you really want to know more history of talk on this BBS coinciding with Feigen articles, I've got a pretty good memory of that and might be inspired to work on a tribute thread for Feigen articles that coincide with the great BBS debates. We could start with the big Bet Your Moniker Debate and Feigen immediately getting quotes after Griffin was drafted (Is he a SF or PF?) the very next day. lol! And getting more quotes at least 2 more times.

Of course, a feature article like this will take me a month or so, and I'll need some research assistants like Mango and The Cat...hehe.

As for Rudy and CD looking for fan feedback on the BBS versus Talk Radio, this medium allows them to scan fan feelings at their leisure and put ZRB on their Ignore List. You can't do that with Talk Radio.

Hi Crispee, I do remember those instances you mentioned. The architects of this site has to be commended for successfully installing this site into the consiousness of everything ROCKET. In addition to thanking god for the internet, my hats off again to this vibrant community.

I thought Al Gore hadn't invented the internet, yet, during our 1st Championship season. And I'm p.r.e.t.t.y. sure we didn't have The Glide ;)

I agree. I think Michael Murphy is also great, with his NBA beat. Both are very interesting and inciteful when they are on the local talk radio, too.

I've got about 5 thousand dollars. Now if we can come up with a few more thousand we will be making some noise.

    Let's buy them rocks.

However, I ask that the GM we vote be someone who is not a tanker.

Now let's see if the Chronicle prints an article about fans who are interested in buying the Rockets.
