It's only been a couple of days, and it feels like its been months. To me this is going to be the longest offseason in awhile. I see other teams playing and it makes me feel down because with a healthy team and Yao Ming I feel this team could of knocked out anyone. The 22 game winning streak was no fluke, though this team didn't have the most talent in the world I will never question anyones heart. Thats how I feel in love with these Rockets. To make the playoffs was a gigantic accomplishment in itself, the west was probably never was any better, it took 50 wins just to make the playoffs and the Rockets had to do this without their most consistent player the last 36 or 35 games. I was always wanting this team to have Bob Sura's heart, but this year I felt everyone had it, so I'll give props to Rick Adelman. I was the biggest JVG supporter around still am, but the change was a good move. Now I am forced to watch other teams play, and to be honest I can't get myself to. Like the Rockets my offseason starts when the Rockets get eliminated. But I love and miss the Rockets already, and have never been more proud of a team, who has spoiled me like this with so low expectations when Yao went down, to achieve beyond I could ever ask from them. How can you not love this team, you got Dikembe Mutombo with his Kodak smile and the finger wag seen around the world. Tracy McGrady who has more pads on his body than Barry Bonds when he comes to bat. Carl Landry who gets his tooth knocked out returns to the court minutes later and makes one of the greatest sets of defensive plays I have ever seen to steal a victory in the unbeatable home court of Utah. Rafer Alston coming back early and having a solid regular season, ankle hurting so bad, he was forced to watch the first 2 games on the bench, but come back a man on a mission in game 3. Scola who there isn't a loose ball that he is not ever near around. Shane Battier who any knowledagble fan knows he was barely even 60% healthy out there because I could clearly see him favoring his leg this series, still went out there and played his heart out and shot I think 7-7 in game one. I can go on for just about every player. From Yao Ming to Mike Harris I love and respect everyone on this team, and this offseason is already killing me. But like the Rockets I will be back next year and ready to go, and chase after our 2008-2009 NBA Championship! Well there is nothing left to say but Go Rockets!!!
I feel the same way RRR. Next season will be very interesting. Sadly, i just know people are gonna be complaining about Yao while he struggles to get himself back into the flow of the game. Just wait and see. If we could just get a reliable backup for Rafer i think we would be set. Rafer is our only true point guard and he cant be out there the whole game every game. After that its just a matter of staying healthy. I expect Tmac to have his aches and pains. As long as he can play in the playoffs i will be content.
I'm just not that much interested in remainder of the playoffs now. No team to really root for. I wish the NBA season was 12 months long, with the same number of games. Occaisional 2 or 3 week breaks for the players staggered through the year that would help with player injury recovery. I'm the consumer and I demand 12 month NBA!!!!
lol, i had a dream that the rockets were playing a game in front of Krogers grocery store....5 on 5...but the score was still posted in the sky somehow...lol, yeah i miss the rockets
I miss them too. 5 more months?! I might go crazy until then. I guess I will root for the Hornets over SA and Lakers over Utah. After that, I choose New Orleans over LA just cuz it's a "feel good story" and an upset.
I feel you man. Its gonna be a loooooong offseason. We've through extreme ups and downs this year. Painful season yet again. But I will still support my Rockets! Go Rox! No more reason to watch NBA now
