Hypothetically, if the Rockets were in the NBA Finals, would the ratings score high?

    I was just thinking...

Just for the sake of argument, if the Rockets were to be in the NBA Finals, do you think the average Joe in Minnesota would give a rat's ass? Just trying to compare the Rockets' star power versus that of teh spurs and nets.

I think Yao and Steve would be a big hit, especially Yao.

Out team right now is TOP 3.

You have the lakers. KOBE ANS SHAQ
You have the Sacramento. Webber and company
THen you have US. YAO,YAO,YAO, FRANCES

The proof is Steve and YAO were voted STARTING players in the western conference by the FANS. YAO over shaq.

We have arrived and now we have Mr. New York as our coach.

I definitley think having a NY coach gets more media attention on top of our players. Curious to see when ESPN, TNT, and the others hop on the bandwagon.

especially sportcenter. i bet they all going to praise the rockets and say they are fans of it since we are a team to be reckoned with, not to mention yao-mania, plus, Mr. New York is on our side. i do suspect those beeyotches to ride the bandwagon and with a blink of an eye, they will forget all those disrespect they gave to the rockets and to its fans.

When we make the playoffs next season, you can bet that cities with high Asian populations (NY, SF, Sea, etc) will be watching. I'm also sure several million people from China will be tuning in.

Yeah, but this is the first time someone mentioned this. Get the idea? ;)

And the topic isn't at all about who would win, anyway.

I still remember when the Rockets came to play the Knicks this year. I figured there'd be some support, but I still figured I'd be in a really small minority. The people cheering for the Rockets were louder than the Knicks for nearly the entire game. I couldn't believe how many people were rooting for the Rockets. Mostly for Yao but Moochie had a cheering section and I saw two Francis jerseys.

If the Rockets were in the finals, JVG wouldn't be around.

The ratings would be higher in the US, yes, but only slightly due to the presence of Yao. Overseas, though, is another story.

A lot of people in China would be watching!!! But that doesn't mean the ratings would be high. Because......1.2 billion people....and...not everyone watches basketball or has a television....
    Anyways.
If the Rockets were in the finals...I'd say the ratings could be as high as they are with the Spurs and Nets....
    It depends...
    On how popular become.
If we start playing boring dirty basketball...then maybe no one will watch.
And if we are playing the Cavaliers....with Lebron James...that would make the ratings higher.
I hope that we will make the NBA Finals sooooon.

A least it would be more interesting and I bet that Cat and Steve could shoot better than those bricklayers in the Finals (Kidd, RJ on the Nets, all of the Spurs backcourt folks). :p

Yes, Rating would be higher simply because Yao is still and will be a star attraction.

Yao draws big attention from non-sports fans, non-basketball fans, non-Rocket fans, and Rocket fans alike!

Um, perhaps because Rudy T would still be coaching the team...and even if he wasn't, the Rockets wouldn'tve hired a new coach in the middle of a playoff run.
