I was having this discussion with a friend, and its just purely hypothetical. What Greene is playing to his potential for most of the year up until the trade deadline or even until 2010. Just a scoring machine and player that the Rockets dreamed of.

A number of options would open up.

What would the Rockets do with TMacs 20 million dollar salary by 2010?

Would the trade for Billups and Prince be more appealing?

    pg: Billups/Rafer
    sg: Greene/Barry
    sf: Battier/Prince
    pf: Scola/Landry
    c: Yao/Deke

I know my idea is preposterous, but its fun to wonder :)

Nice thought with one exception. No chance in hell Prince sits behind Battier. Prince plays as good, if not better, defense than Battier and he can score. Also, if you have Prince, you don't need Battier. He'd become a tradeable asset.

Classic case of Clutchfans overhype. The next game he plays bad, fans will demand we trade him.

Classic? You've only been a member for a year...

Classic to you is when we drafted Aaron Brooks

If Greene is prolific in the season, and I mean very prolific (at least 15 or higher points or close to that, gets 5 or more rebounds, and plays excellent defense) I'd trade Battier for more pieces, why trade McGrady when Greene is a 3/4.

deke would be 44 and barry would be 38. both would have retired. billups wuld be like 34. there would be no point in billups then

    Ahhhhhh!!!!!!!

Let's give Green some slack so that he can develop. If he turns out to be another Tito Maddox, Dan Langhi, Terrence Morris, Steve Novak, Vasilis Spanoulis, etc. let's realize the NBA is supposed to be the toughest basketball league in the world. And the amount of people who play basketball, means that not everyone is going to make it in this league.

But if as a #25 pick, even though he was technically picked #28, turns out to be a starter, then that is awesome!!!! If he becomes a star on the team, then that's much better. But can he turn into a superstar in the league? Let's get him into a productive role player first!!!!

    Just keep that in mind.

Yeah, I joined a year ago with THIS name. I've been lurking on this site since it was called Clutch-City and registered in the past under a different name. Don't act like you're better than people just because you think you joined earlier than somebody.

Actually I`d like this lineup right now:

    pg: Billups/Rafer
    sg: Prince/Barry
    sf: Battier/Greene
    pf: Scola/Landry
    c: Yao/Scola/Dorsey

Greene is the T-Mac of Summerleague... NBA is a whole different story, because he won`t get that much space and these shots in the NBA. On the other side of the court it will be interesting to see if he can guard his man.

But if we really trade T-Mac für Billups and Prince (Billups and Hamilton would be even better) I actually see us as a contender for the title. Prince can play the 2 and is a decent scorer, Billups can control the pace of the game and create scoring opportunities for himself and others. On Defense we really wouldn`t have a weakness, perhaps besides real quick PGs. On offense we`d have our big men, some guys who can shoot the 3 and Billups, who can do a little bit of everything...

LOL, you act like people who just joined this forum are new too the Rockets.

I just joinedn the forum this season, but I have followed them since I was 6 years old, does that statement apply to everyone that just joined this forum?

    Classic Clutchfans.net arrogant behaviour.

You made the conscious effort of being critical of my topic which I made sure to emphasize "hypothetical" and "for fun". You dedicated a minute of your life to put down something I felt like sharing

and that doesn't allow me the right to be critical of you?

Well, the quote he was responding to said classic CLUTCHFANS behavior, not classic Rocket fan behavior. And then you said the exact same thing. I don't know how you don't understand.

A simple rule of thumb; If you have to put that phrase in your thread, DO NOT create the thread!

If the offer is on the table, I wonder what is holding Morey back
I think Prince and Billups are proven winners
