If someone bought the grizzlies and moved them to seattle and called them the supersonics, would the teams history still be intact? or is it all gone? especially if they played in the same arena and had the same uniform. the only difference at all i see is that the players wouldnt be the same, but this imo isnt that big of a deal considering the only worthwhile player seattle had was kevin durant and jeff green who havent even made an impression yet on the NBA. so what do yall think would happen?

except that dennis johnson help lead the sonics to a championship in the late 70s not to mention other great players they've had on that team such as tom chambers and gary payton as well as some good players like detlef schrempf, shawn kemp, ricky pierce, xavier mcdaniel.

That Ray Allen guy could ball a bit too

And you'll do well to convince me that Durant is a better player (based on his time in Seattle) than Rashard Lewis

Depends. Is the turntable spinning in an opposite direction from the helicopter rotor blades?

I think part of the settlement agreement that allowed Clay Bennett to move the team to OKC this year was that Seattle gets to keep the "Supersonics" name and history. If another team comes to Seattle, it will quite likely assume the Supersonics identity and history.

The Cleveland Browns had the same deal after the team left to become the Baltimore Ravens.

And let's not forget this current Houston Rocket who rocked it for the Sonics:

I don't like killing threads, but feel free to use any of them. Butterfingers has posted way better content than this.

I know it's the offseason, but just keep the hyptheticals and wierd dreams where they belong, to yourself.

I don't think it'll be the same. Even if they take the Sonics name and colors, etc., whenever announcers or whomever talks about the accomplishments of the old Sonics, they're likely to mention that that franchise moved to OKC. I don't think you can realistically separate the history from the franchise.

I think that would be like colliding two Teams history into one team and city. Seattle has their own history, and so does Memphis/Vancouver. But if they moved back to Seattle they would be the Supersonics once again and the history of the Memphis/Vancouver Grizzlies would be all gone.

Not exactly a huge loss there.
