I think cuttino has made up his mind. I think he is gone. Probably to Chicago or Orlando. So i propose this

Houston gets- Ron Mercer, Bo Outlaw
Chicago Gets- Cuttino Mobley (signed) 1st round pick, next ten years.
    Orlando gets- Jamal Crawford.

Rockets games are like a box of chocolates, you never know whacha your gonna get.

What team gives up the first round pick?

What salaries do you have down for Cat, Mercer and Outlaw?

I think I'd rather have Jamal Crawford. He would be a great backup for both Shandon and Steve and he would be a really good replacement for Cuttino.

The problem is that either one of those teams can pay Mobley more than Houston can, so there's really no reason for them to do a sign and trade.

Mobley would be losing money if he agreed to a sign and trade. Also, Chicago isn't going to give up Crawford for Mobley. They'd want Mobley to play along side Crawford.

If Mobley leaves, it won't be through a sign and trade.

    aelliott-Here's a hypothetical scenario.
Suppose Orlando has 5 million of cap left, and they want to sign Cat for 6 million, and suppose Doleac had a 1 mill salary (I haven't checked). Would it be possible to sign and trade with Orlando, Cat for Doleac? We can only sign him for a max of 4.1 million though, would they have to work around it, and first trade Doleac for "future considerations" then do the sign and trade, or just sign outright?

Mercer and Outlaw aren't worth Cat. Stevie, Shan, Moochie and Cat have great chemistry. I don't think Ron would blend with this backcourt.

    NIKE,

If Orlando wants to sign Mobley for $6M, then they can't do a sign and trade with Houston and have Mobley end up making $6M. As you stated, Houston could only sign Mobley for somewhere around $4M, so if he signed that deal and was dealt to Orlando, then he'd still be making $4M. There wouldn't be any way for Orlando to bump his salary to $6M.

Under those conditions, Mobley would be better off just signing outright with Orlando for $5M and letting the Magic retain Doleac and their draft pick.

Am I understanding your scenario correctly?

aelliott-yeah, but I was operating under the assumption that Toronto and Chicago had 6 million offers on the table, and Mobley would prefer Orlando out of the group, but not for a million less. If he really wanted to make 6 million under the conditions, the Magic would have to deal away 1 million in salaries (the future considerations in exchange for Doleac would be helping them get Mobley).

Chicago will sign Cuttino Mobley for sure.
Toronto have the space to sign him, but after the McGrady deal with Miami, and getting P.J and Anthony Carter, I just don't think so. Altough I want Bulls to sign Eddie Jones, I think he's gone to Orlando.
So the next best two free agents are going to Chicago, and they are Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley.
He (Mobley) is restricted free agent and that make the transaction more likely.
I would give him $5M in his first year of new contract.

Corey, what a strange signature. What has happened that so many people are now assuming Mobley's going to leave?

Ummm what happened to Dereck Anderson? He is WAY more explosive on the offensive end and is ALMOST to Mobley's level on D. I would think GM's around the NBA would rather have him. Also Mercer is better than Mobley and Bo is better than Mobley. So both of them together at the right price is a steal for Mobley. A shooter who cant shoot straight aint a great shooter in my oppinion. Even if we give up the first pick in the next 4 years its still a great deal, the only negative aspect of all this is that Mercer was not liked in the Denver clubhouse so he could have an ego problem. In my honest opinion though Cat will stay a Rocket, the biggest thing we could have done for Mobley was to not get Courtney Alexander and we didnt [IMG] so unless Cuttino has no loyalty he remains a Rocket.

I'll agree with you that Mercer and Derek Anderson are better then Cuttino but Bo Outlaw?

    Cuttino is better then Bo.
