Is it hypocritical to b*tch and moan
about american players wanting to skip college and
go straight to the NBA. To put in rules that prevent them
from playing professionally until aftera year of college
    THEN
turn around and praise europlayers for being
'more poised and nba ready' because they
have been playing professionally since like 15 and 16??

no. american kids can go to europe and play professionally if they want. players from all over the world use the opportunity. that option is available.

Why should they not be allowed to do it here?
I think the outcry if some 14 yr old
and his family moved to Italy so the kid could play pro ball
    you be very loud here

Imagine if Lebron had done that at 15
[which some folx were claiming he was NBA ready then]

I think it would be sweet if they did it like Europe and set up different pro leagues in smaller cities across the US. That way high school kids could go "pro" early, see if they have what it takes, and if not, at least they dont end up being 20 years old with a few million dollars in debt and a "posse" who was depending on them making it big in the NBA.

Tennis players and golf players do it all the time. Might have been good for Bron also.

you praise these international players for being more poised and more ready--something that people can learn in different ways.

you're not praising them for playing professionally at a young age. Therefore, absolutely not hypocritical

You don't see the correlation between international players' professional experience and how "nba ready" they are?

I wouldn't go as far as to say it is hypocritical. I think there are many reasons why the nba doesn't want teens in the league - and I probably disagree with all of them - but as a business they have a right to hire who they want based on their own criteria.

There's certainly a correlation. But to say it's hypocritical is dumb. It would be hypocritical if they said "Yes, we want you to be 'nba ready' " and "No, we won't let you get 'nba ready' "

But as someone else said, they can get to that point by going to play internationally on their own. Some people can figure it out without that professional playing at a young age (see: Lebron).

If all of these European players are so NBA ready at such an early age, why don't we see more European players making an impact at an early age in the NBA?
