I'm taking an online information systems course and I'm supposed to write an 8 page paper on two standards "used in documenting software requirements." One of the two standards that I will be explaining is IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) standard about how to document software requirements. The second one I can pick myself I'm having trouble finding out what these standards are and where to find sources with the information that will help me write this paper. Anyone with knowledge know of some good websites that will help?
I would look up software requirements specifications. Here's the IEEE Recommended Practice for Software Requirements Speciļ¬cations from 1998, not sure how outdated that is. IEEE will probably make you pay for an updated version, unless you can find it from another source.. For what you need it's probably acceptable though.
Just out of curiosity I looked up the current standard and this appears to be it: Systems and software engineering - Life cycle processes - Requirements engineering As you can see from IEEE, it is the active standard. Best of luck with the assignment.
