http://news.cnet.com/8301-31001_3-20006314-261.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20 Producers of the Oscar-winning film, "The Hurt Locker" have made good on a promise to file copyright lawsuits against people who have illegally downloaded the move via file-sharing networks. Voltage Pictures, an independent production company, filed a copyright complaint on Monday against 5,000 John Does in federal court in Washington D.C. According to court records, next on the company's to-do list is to learn the names of each of the John and Jane Does from their Internet service providers. Attorneys for Voltage wrote in the complaint that unless the court stops the people who pirate "The Hurt Locker" then Voltage will suffer "great and irreparable injury that cannot fully be compensated or measured in money." Voltage has asked the court to prevent those who downloaded the movie without paying for it, from downloading its movies ever again, and order them to destroy all copies of "The Hurt Locker" from their computers and any other electronic devices they may have transferred the film. As for monetary damages, the movie's producers want those found to have pilfered the movie to pay actual or statutory damages and cover the costs that went into filing the suits. So, here we go again.

I'm all for this. I hope they win and I hope they track down everyone who downloaded it illegally and get whatever they can from them.
Just because they won an Oscar for a mediocre movie think they suddenly have all the power. Good luck because people will start pirating it. You don't mess with ANON.
Yep. The only chance this movie stood of me watching it is it I could do so for free. I think this is pretty and super lame on the part of the films producers. If you can't understand the internetz in 2010 you need to get out of the music/movie making business.
I dont understand the outrage. Is it really that difficult to just rent a movie if you want to see it? Or are you just that cheap?
Is reverse pyschology .... NOBODY is downloadin' this mediorce movie they just sayin' to try to spark some controversy ... to get people that havnt seen it ... go rent or dl it .. curiousity alway gets to some.
Don't worry yall. If they go by the logic used in the movies, nobody should be in any danger. If they think a bomb squad can become deadeye snipers in a moment's notice, then they probably also think movie execs can represent themselves without a lawyer in this lawsuit.
