For those of you who own a house, are you prepared? Or will you be one of the ones scrambling to home depot the last day?

I was thinking about going and getting plywood and "pre" cutting it to fit all my windows and then just storing it in the garage so that I could just throw it up if I ever needed to. Does anyone else do this?

Also, what is the best way to secure the plywood onto the window seal? With concrete/masonry screws??

Living in Houston, unless it is a really strong cat 4 or 5, the only thing you can do is make sure your trees are trimmed and that there aren't any projectiles in the yard. If you live right on the coast, you should definitely have plywood, etc. stored up.

I have a reverse osmosis machine for my water that is full of 10 gallons at all time, so I'm fine if the water goes off (rare in downtown) or if the water gets contaminated. I have candles and batteries for the radio. I've even got a UPS system for the computer that will keep me up and running for a few hours.

I also have preparations in case I need to leave (for a big mutha).

If the storm reaches Indiana, I think the east coast as we know it today is finished. :D

I have storm blinds on my house, so no plywood here. Plus, they're a pretty good theft deterrant...

My boards were cut the summer our home was completed and stored in the attic. Plylox keep the plywood secured to the window box.

I am wondering... why so many people go out to buy plywood boards and crap.

Living in coastal areas means you will at least see ONE HURRI-FREAKIN'-CANE in your lifetime, so why not buy and custom-place these boards now, then remove them, then store them in your attic for when there is a HUGE-O freakin' storm coming your way. I am just wondering why they continue to RUN to HOMEs Depot like in the last minute. F*ck*rs.

Some aero beds may come in handy so you don't have the kids sleeping near windows.
