...is going to be a b****. You hurricane followers out there must be in awe. They say it is still growing as it heads straight toward the Florida panhandle.
Winds were at 150, went down to 100, now back up to 115. I'm in New Orleans right now for an internship and the people were going crazy until everyone was sure Dennis would hit Florida/Alabama. EDIT: Winds are now at 125 mph.

Really? From watching 33/40 seems like it'll just be winds around 50mph. Strong yes, but I can't imagine widespread power outages. Still, I'm ready with...batteries, ice, and flashlights, haha. I think I'll just go to my friends hurricane party.

Got that info from an alabama power worker. He said if it goes out here, it'll be down a week because everyone will be down south.
Man, the experts were dead on with this one. I was reading 4 days ago that the projected path was between easter Louisiana and the Florida panhandle. I told a friend 3 days ago that if I were betting, my money would be on a strong cat 3 somewhere between Mobile and Pensacola. Guess I should have bet something.
I guess everyone was pretty lucky with this storm; don't really know why more damage wasn't caused, but thankful that there was no major damage, at least not nearby around here anyway. I saw that flooding in Georgia that looked quite bad. Only 'damage' here was the loss of cable, so no internet or tv which was actually a nice change, heh. I ended up watching DVDs of Curb Your Enthusiasm (Season 3) and...reading?!?! Yes, I was actually reading a book.
