(AP) - Former wrestling champion Hulk Hogan has called out Roy Jones Junior over the former W-B-A boxing champion's embrace of cockfighting. Jones recently purchased a Louisiana cockfighting ring near Franklinton called the Pearl of the Bayou. In cockfighting, two roosters outfitted with metal spikes fight in a ring, often to the death. It's legal in two states -- Louisiana and New Mexico. Opponents say the sport is cruel and hurts the image of the state; supporters say it's a cultural tradition and worthwhile industry. Hogan wrote Jones a letter on behalf of the Humane Society of the United States in which he told Jones to -- quote -- lay off defenseless animals and give up cockfighting. Jones, who lives in Pensacola, Florida, raises roosters there.
