Matt Maloney's line with the Bulls tonight:

    16 points
    4 assists
    3 steals
    0 turnovers
    50% shooting

Is someone using a fake name - pretending to be Maloney - can't be the same guy...

On that crappy team he's practically a superstar. He's not even in the same league as Francis and isn't as good as Bryce Drew. Chicago will be a good place for him to get his lost confidence back.

actaully he was good. he was a decent starter for us and would have been one of the best back ups in the league. but goofy rudy decides to go from having a guy be the starter to never playing. just like he decided to not give brent any playing time last year no matter how well he was playing. once a player starts t hen he's basically there for years until rudy decides to bench him

I'm happy for Matt- just tough to deal with since we are basically paying his salary to play for the Bulls.

Maloney had 1 good season and wasnt good after that.Brent Price was a waste of valuble bench space. The best thing the Rockets did was to get rid of them to and get a real PG in Francis.

Brent Price and Matt Maloney were never really good players. At the VERY best Brent Price is a last resort off of the bench and Matt Maloney after his 1 good season wasnt much better.
If you gave me the choise of Maloney,Price and Drew Id take Drew.
It dosent really matter though as we now have Francis how would score 40 against all 3 of them.....togeather [IMG]
Im not one of the many Maloney haters I but looking back at Maloney and Brent Price and thinking "We should never have gotten rid of these guys" is silly.

Maybe there's a God, and maybe there isn't. But there's one thing in this world of which you can be absolutely sure: That is the last time you will ever see 3 steals in Matt Maloney's box score.

Matt's biggest assets for the Rockets were taking care of the ball (few turnovers) and making the entry pass. He did those very well. He was a streaky shooter who would put up good numbers on occasion. He played fundamentally good defense, but got regularly lit-up by quicker guards (most everyone). I don't think he has any upside potential from that. His skills can help some teams, but I don't think he would be anything special on future Hakeem-less Rockets teams.

hey-i'm just kind of glad that matt's playing again. good for him.

i'm sure he's much happier playing than sitting at home doing nothing.

btw-as stated before, matt did good at what he was supposed to do. he was never really running the show the way francis does.

maybe given the chance to run the offense, matt might surprise alot of people.

remember he was primarily asked to dump the ball into the post and wasn't really asked to play true point like say gary payton.

    go matt. [IMG]

Matt Maloney was never one of my favorite players, but he was decent. He would've made a very capable back up to Francis.

The Rocket's biggest mistake was giving him a huge contract for future accomplishments instead of past.

Here's my theory on what happened to Maloney. It wasn't an injury thing. It was a confidence thing, but not the way most people see it. I think he signed that huge contract and started to feel that he had to play better to start earning some of it. But, he started pressing and his shot wouldn't fall then he started thinking that he wasn't worth what the Rockets were paying him, and it snowballed from there.

I know deep down that we had to get rid of him, but not because he sucked, but because he could never live up to such a big contract.
