Insanity, Please! Did I just miss it, or did cnn.com leave something important out of this story...? [This message has been edited by BrianKagy (edited July 05, 2001).]
What's missing? According to the story, he will plead innocent by reason of insanity to consorting with African con artists to swindle folks out of over 10 million dollars. ------------------
I'm gonna guess that what's missing is that he is a Democrat? I didn't see party affiliation in the story either, but I did some researching, and he's had an interesting political career -- he cast the deciding vote to impeach Nixon. He also served as Jimmy Carter's representative to the U.N. Human Rights committee in 1977. ------------------ CC.net's most courteous driver Oh yeah, and I'm looking for a job right now, so hire me please
I'm assuming they didn't put his affiliation because he is no longer a Congressman. It wouldn't be fair to a party (Democrat or Republican) to bring up the party affiliation to a guy who is no longer in power. I mean if George Bush got into trouble would you want them to say "Former Republican President George Bush. . .". That's just my theory. ------------------ "Win if you can, lose if you must but always cheat!" - Jesse Ventura
I'd be curious to know what exactly this guy did to steal $10m. ------------------ http://www.swirve.com ... more fun than a barrel full of monkeys and midgets.
Vengeance and RocksMillenium nailed it. I just thought it was odd that they omitted his party affiliation although RM does raise a good point as to why that might be. To me, it should be listed, just because it's the first thing I think of when a story refers to a politician. That's just my personal preference. Also, in stories about former congressmen, I believe that reporters normally include the party affiliation. Heck, they definitely do when dealing with Newt Gingrich!
