    Huge University of Colorado party turns into riot; students face expulsion
    Cars damaged, police injured by crowd of 500 to 800 people

    University of Colorado students who participated in an out-of-control party Saturday night face expulsion, campus officials say.

    They promised arrests of those who threw rocks or bottles at police or damaged property and said that those found guilty may be removed from CU and not readmitted.

    Violence broke out when police moved in to disperse a crowd that Police Chief Maris Herold estimated at 500 to 800 people in the city’s University Hill neighborhood.

    Fireworks were set off; one car was flipped over and “many others” were damaged, police said. Three police officers were injured, including one who was hit in the face, possibly with a rock.
