On a local basketball talk show, they floated a trade that they say is in the works...Three team deal, involving the Bucks, Blazers, and Sonics...I missed a lot of it, so this will be a bit sketchy, but the primary players are Payton to Milwaukee, with Stodamire, Dale Davis, Cassell, Robinson, and others involved...Not sure how substantiated this is, but this particular talk show doesn't just float anything...If anyone has further details, I'd be interested...Otherwise, I'll try and find out more... Ok, there are reportedly two rumours, one of a fairly straight up Cassell and Robinson for Payton trade, another involving Portland and Stoudamire and Davis in a three-way....Will keep looking...Any thoughts?
I think the Bucks would be stupid to give up Cassell and Robinson for Payton. Besides, wasn't there tension between Bucks coach George Karl and Payton when Karl was with Seattle?
If Seattle trades Payton, they should do it for a bunch of picks, or for some young talent. The rumored Bucks/Sonics trade does little team any good. If a young Payton + the 2nd best player in the league at the time in Shawn Kemp, plus some darn good role players wasn't enough to win a title, what makes anyone think an old Payton + Ray Allen is good enough? It's an exercise in futility.
I don't see why Seattle would want to help out Portland, but for arguments sake, Payton and Baker in Blazers uni's with Stoudamire and Kemp being shipped out would seem likely, but I doubt Kemp would head back to Seattle.
