Biden got more votes in the Florida primary after he had suspended his campaign than there are people in Wasilla, Alaska.
To be fair, I didn't think Huckabee meant that statement literally. The problem is that the number of votes in no way correlates to executive experience. It was poorly written, and his figurative exaggeration had no relation to anything real, so it was hard to discern if he meant it literally.
I don't like Huckabee but the point of the joke was to point out how seriously nobody took Biden as a Presidential candidate both times he attempted to run.
OP-ED Did Biden ever face the general election for POTUS? by IROC it Recently claims of lying were thrown at former GOP candidate for president, Mike Huckabee because he made a statement indicating Joe Biden had received less votes for president than Sarah Palin did while running for mayor of the rural town of Wasilla, Alaska. Before looking at the claim that Huckabee lied, we have to further investigate Biden's career in politics... in simple black and white terms. Did Biden ever face the general election for President of the United States? No... he left in shame twice. Seeing as he never got a single vote AS THE DEM NOMINEE... he got ZERO votes for POTUS. Sure he got some as a candidate within the party, in a primary... but failed to make it as far as the nominee. ADVERTISEMENT Palin on the other hand ran as the candidate of more than one election as the nominee of an executive position and won. In fact, if you look at actual numbers in an election that either her or Biden ran in for an executive position, since he HAS NEVER MADE IT THAT FAR, she even beat his number of votes in the mayoral race of the small town of Wasilla, AK. Even if the number of those who voted for Palin was literally "1" it is 100% more than "zero." That's how these things work. But we all know that whether "1" or thousands, any number above zero is 100% more. "I want to tell you folks something," said Huckabee. "She got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States." It's really not that hard to see folks. It's not a "lie." It's common sense... and rather a good indicator of who the failure is. If in a town where everyone has known you you whole life you manage to become mayor... you're pretty solid person overall. If in a Democratic primary race to obtain the nomination for POTUS you walk away in shame twice, once for plagiarism and a second time for being out of touch... you're pretty much being exposed as a fraud and fake among fakes. The choice is simple folks. Really. Any way you slice it... a race to be a candidate is not the same as being the candidate. It's still in the phase of having a vote, to have a vote, to have a vote. Until you are going head-to-head against the other side of the aisle, you're the pretender, not a contender. I see no lie. Merely a solid lack of getting the point on the part of bitter people looking to degrade someone making accurate statements. Something the left is far detached from... understanding simple, non-elitist concepts. It's precisely why they will continue to only yearn to be in power, drawing up new ways to lie and deceive the masses... copying GOP presidential campaign speeches in hopes of striking a familiar chord in the hearts of the common middle class. But then plagiarism is a consistent theme in the ranks of the elitist Democratic party these days. The days of FDR and JFK are long gone... When all else fails you, copy your enemy and put your liberal spin on it. We get it Democrats. We only hope and pray that more people see it for what it is. The truth is out there. Furthermore, the idea that Huckabee's comment was anything but a light hearted, well informed, comment that should make no difference is totally lost because of the fact that it is fundamentally and mathematically true. The truth, put into simple terms, always hurts the side that is trying to cloud the issue with rhetoric and misplaced priorities. When you look at the bigger picture, you'll realize that Palin has won more votes when facing an election of executive significance than the Democratic ticket. Palin scares the left to death because the experiment of Hillary Clinton they invested so much in over the years may very well be completely upstaged by a fairly new, completely non-liberal political darling. When people in their own party were labeling Clinton a word beginning with a "b," the GOP had an ace up their sleeve. The waiting is over. The country will now decide. The Democrats may have missed another opportunity to boast... which seems to be the main reason for running the ticket they have now. If the truth were examined again, it would be apparent that Clinton may have won the nomination had it not been for her own party disallowing the votes in Florida and Michigan to stand at a time of crucial momentum in the primaries. How ugly is it that the party of the feminist movement totally roadblocked the first woman president? Very ugly. But very true and very much what happened. And the truth not only exposes the ugliness of deceit... but it hurts the cause of the lofty. The question remains then, when will the side stories and attacks on truthful comments be replaced with actual questions of character and record for the elitist Democratic side? Since when did actual qualifications become non-essential to an election cycle? Why is America more hung up on flashy words and tailored suits? Sarah Palin has all the experience that any candidate would need, especially when the old adage "all politics are local" is considered. If you can win within your party, within your hometown, when facing the other side... you have what it takes. Combine the local head-to-head tenacity of Palin with the maverick non-stop drive of John McCain and you've got something America has been built on since day one. America never has let mere words decide it's fate in the past. Our country has always looked for leadership with results in their past and determination and perseverance for success in their future. The time is right to continue the tradition. Let's not give Biden his first win. It was Clinton's to have. Nothing against Barack Obama, but he had no seniority within his own party to be the POTUS nominee. That too was Clinton's to have. And I'm sorry but a two time rejected Joe Biden would not have been her running mate. All indications were that it would be Obama. Thanks Democrats.... you've made our case. You've left the advancement of women as a party standard, and are now mocking when the GOP finally catches up to the race. Problem is, after all these years, the GOP will finish the race first. You've lied to women for too long. America will see through it.
if you believe the trash in that oped (and i cant tell if that's you're writing in the second half of your post), then good for you. you've now fallen for practically every talking point the right-wing spin machine can throw. keep it at, it makes you look like a hack.
