posting thread ahead of time. leaked tablet renders are here: http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/18/exclusive-hp-palms-webos-tablets-pictures-plans-and-mor/ looks pret-ty good. the 2/9/10 event is being held at a pretty large venue. rumor is that webos will be on smartphones, tablets, and netbooks at this event. i'll be getting rid of this evo soon thereafter (sorry dave2000 ). glad hp is putting money behind webos since palm didn't have the money to do so.
webOS is just an inferior version of iOS, both locked into brand specific hardware... one dwarfs the other in dev community /android user

http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/28/hp-ceo-new-webos-products-shipping-weeks-after-february-9-revea/ new webos (yes, "webos" swoly) devices (tablets/smartphones) shipping a few weeks after announcement. as opposed to the palm pre shipping six months after it's announcement. another major announcement scheduled in march in addition to the feb 9th event. :crickets:
the palm pre 2 (which should have been released only as a dev device) has webos 2.0, which yes... has flash. so yeah... it will.
you'll be back I'm interested to see how the webOS will be after the HP acquisition, we'll soon find out.
as kingcheetah would say, "unlikely". countdown included... http://www.palm.com/us/company/events/ teaser of one of the products... http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/02/palm-think-beyond-teaser-for-next-weeks-event-shows-off-glimp/ crickets...
Is that supposed to make people anticipate the product with more excitement? LOL! With iOS, Android and (eventually some sort of success for) WP7, I don't think HP has much of a shot. This will be their one chance to have everyone's attention. If they don't deliver something special, WebOS is dead in the water. If Nokia gives WP7 a nice boost (very questionable), WebOS is probably dead in the water even if it's pretty good.
don't think wp7's one carrier, non-multitaking arse to qualify as being even somewhat of a success. i do agree with the "if they don't deliver". hp has cash and consumer/corporate mindshare. palm didn't have any of that. guess we'll just have to wait and see. it would be a darn shame for a mobile os praised a much as webos to go "dead in the water". doubt it'll happen with hp's cash.
Leaks say we're going to get three new devices today: HP TouchPad: 9.7" tablet with a dual core 1.2GHz Qualcomm chip, essentially the same 1024x768 IPS display as the iPad, front facing webcam and Beats audio HP Pre3: Successor to the Palm Pre HP Veer: Small teen phone
I'm sure HP is going to put all the muscle it can behind driving developers to the platform. I've also heard rumors that today's presentation will feature executives from Hulu and Netflix ... this, together with Rubinstein being on the board of Amazon.com, could spell a big time win for content on webOS.
I meant that eventually WP7 will be a success in some way. Right now it doesn't look promising but MS will keep at it indefinitely. I'm rooting for WebOS, but 4th place may be no place. For that matter, 3rd may not be much of anything.
Quite disappointed that we have to wait till summer before we can get anything here. Especially when it all looks pretty good right now. HP is making the same mistake Palm made in 2009. Apple will come right along and steal all their thunder with the iPhone 5/iPad 2, and it won't matter that HP has a superior OS and better content.
