All props to Doc Rocket, who told me this in confidence -- not for the site -- but could be posted on the BBS. Hakeem told the guys on the plane that the Rockets should try and trade him so they can get something for him. Dream said that exactly. He ended that by saying do you know how many teams would give everything to get that cap space? Like Sacramento? Thought that was incredibly interesting... ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET

Does he know what the guys said when hakeem said that? Clutch-- wow. Unbelievable- I would have never expected Dream to say that. And by the context, I'm assuming he meant trading him NOW. Of course my first reaction was thinking of a certain team up north (Minnesota, hehe) that needs cap space, but I'm sure that's not realistic. Any ideas what other teams (besides the already mentioned Kings) might be interested in that cap space? ------------------ President of the Jason Collier police! Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? OH MY GOD. This dovetails nicely with Hakeem's recent comments. Anyone want to bet that Hakeem will be traded after the arena vote? Perhaps to New York? Glad I checked in before retiring. ------------------
Clutch, Wow. Now that's a scoop that Ben & Jerry's can't even compete with. I'm getting butterflies. I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad. I don't know if I could watch him in another uniform. Doc Rocket, Thanks to you, too! ------------------ My stupid little site could never compete. It got to where it was just me sayin' the same stupid crap! I'm suprised noone already spun his announcement earlier into a 'must trade' scenario ala. Ewing. Hey wait, I didn't read the other threads. Geez, I thought his comments earlier were merely to avoid a sappy going away year. Sheez. Maybe that's why Rudy T seemed so taken aback. There are actually opportunities now. Whoa. Given his current condition, and the inability to do anything of merit (except perhaps in Prince's backyard) I say keep him. ------------------ "Everyone I know has a big but... come on Simone, let's talk about your but."
I'm with DoD. I don't know whether to be happy or sad. One way or the other, I am fascinated. ------------------
We do get something for him, the capspace that other teams want. Whatever we would get for him in a trade probably wouldn't be worth the capspace. ------------------ [This message has been edited by NewGuy (edited October 27, 2000).]

It would be nice if Minnesota wanted to clear up cap space, but they probably want guys that already have contracts. Probably about five year contracts. [This message has been edited by Doctor Robert (edited October 28, 2000).]
Simply unbelieveable. Do you even have to ask why I spend hours on this site per day? Hmm...perhaps Dream's comments on being in good shape and the fact that he feels he is able to play beyond this season might make teams eager to trade for a guy that will be productive for one season, and will clear tons of cap space. A ploy orchestrated by our very own Hakeem Olajuwon? "We do get something for him, the capspace that other teams want. Whatever we would get for him in a trade probably wouldn't be worth the capspace." NewGuy, This doesn't make sense. First of all, if this were to occur, we would be trading Olajuwon to a team that already has available cap space. Unless they really want Dream, it doesn't work. If you are implying that we will be getting worthless players at contracts equivalent to Dream's total, we would be killing ourselves. Dream only has one year to go and the cap space is ours. No, the proposed scenario calls for a star to come to Houston. A good one or else it's not worth it. So, no Juwan Howards, in this case. One more question...who mentioned Sacramento? Come on, Rudy! Give Minnesota and Chicago a ring! ------------------ Nederland 2002 Garnett a Rocket? Read our latest column at ClutchTown.com [This message has been edited by Ace (edited October 28, 2000).]
This is bad news IMO. First off, I don't ever want to see him in another uniform. Second, we won't be able to get anything good for him now. If he just had this attitude one da*n year ago, we'd have Bender and friends. Third, don't we need that cap space? No matter what though, I'd hate to see him in another uniform, esp. those pansy Pacers'. The Pacers suck, Coach Sampson! They're like the Jazz of the East. In fact, that whiner Reggie Miller is more annoying than Karl Malone IMO. John Stockton still has him beat though. [This message has been edited by Oatdog (edited October 28, 2000).]
