start 1 qb, 2 rbs, 3 wrs, 1 te, 1k, 1 def qb - Brett Favre (round 3) rb - Edgerrin James (round 1) rb - Rudi Johnson (round 2) wr - Jimmy Smith (round 5) wr - Jerry Porter (round 7) wr - Ashlie Lelie (round 8) te - Marcus Pollard (round 14) def - Buffalo Bills (round 10) k - Josh Brown (round 13) reserves rb - Deuce Staley (round 4) rb - Tony Hollings (round 11) qb - Aaron Brooks (round 6) wr - Mushin Muhammed (round 12) wr - Marcus Robinson (round 9) wr - Antwaan Randle El (round 17) k - Joe Nedney (round 16) def - Pittsburgh Steelers (round 15) My theory - WR's have been so inconsistent and have burned me the past couple of years. I had TO last year and he sucked. This year I went for middle of the road WR's and stocked up at QB and RB hoping that they can bring me through the year and into the playoffs. thoughts?
Not bad. I'm in a 10 team league and ended up with this: Start 1qb, 2rb, 3wr/te, 1k, 1Def I picked 3rd QB: McNabb (3) RB: Tomlinson (1) RB: Faulk (2) WR: joe Horn (5) WR:Eric Moulds (6) WR: Jerry Porter (10) K: Vanderjagt (9) Def: Baltimore (4) BN: Pennington (7) BN: Michael Bennett (8) BN: Heap (11) BN: Seattle D (12) BN: Roy Williams (13) It helped that there are 2 guys that drafted terrible in the league. One guy took Tom Brady with Pick number 4 and another guy took Eddie George in round 2.
Oops sorry..... I picked 8th in the draft. 1. Holmes 2. LT 3. Portis 4. Green 5. McAllister 6. Alexander 7. Lewis 8. James (I didnt want to take a gamble with Fragile Fred Taylor) and wanted to have 2 studs at RB instead of picking up Manning or Culpepper. I knew it would be slim pickings after round 2..... Maybe I should have gone for one of the 2 QBs, but I adhere to the RB theory. I think I did well by getting Favre in round 3 anyways....
QB- J. Delhomme WR- R. Moss WR- A. Johnson WR- D. Hall RB- P. Holmes WR/TE- R. Gardner WR/RB- L. Suggs K- J. Kasay DEF - New England I have Suggs and Dante Hall starting because I'm in a TE/RB ooptional league that allows return yardage. I think it's pretty solid. my bench features: QB - D. Carr WR - T. Glenn RB - D. Staley RB - M. Williams TE - B. Franks TE - I. Mili QB - J. Kitna QB - C. Palmer... I figure one of those two cincy QB's might come in handy as a third option, and I can always dump my TE's if needed to pick up any good waiver or FA hole fillers. K - why? DEF - Tennessee of course I can rotate about any of those WR's back out for a TE if it presents a better matchup... Our league can run the usual 3 WR, 2 RB, and 1 TE... or 4 WR, 1 RB, and 1 TE... or 4 WR, 2 RB... or 5 WR and 1 RB. I love the flexibility. btw- I got Randy Moss by trading Eddie George and David Givens. A steal of a deal.
Alright, here is my team from the draft yesterday. 8 team league, 1qb, 2 or 3 rb's, 2 or 3 wr's, kicker, defense. Qb: Michael Vick (3) Tom Brady (12) Rb: Clinton Portis (1) Fred Taylor (2) Quentin Griffin (7) Tyrone Wheatley (10) Greg Jones (15) Wr: Derrick Mason (4) Joe Horn (5) Laverneus Coles (6) Plaxico Burress (9) Jeremy Shockey (13) Kicker: Jason Elam (10) Defense: New England D (8) Indy D (14) What do you guys think? I know I took a gamble selecting Vick in the 3rd round, so that could either turn out to be a steal or a huge bust. The only other weakness I see is at my 3rd rb position, with Quent Griffin. Denver makes any running back look like a star though, so I'm hoping he has a breakout year.
Drew -- Impossible to judge without knowing the number of teams in the league. Castor -- That team is tremendous. Championiship caliber. synergy -- Why do you think that Edge is a bad first round pick?
There are 12. My team in that same league: QB: Vick RB: Portis RB: Westbrook WR: S. Smith WR: J. Walker WR: M. Booker TE: Winslow K: Edinger DEF: Oakland Bench: QB: Plummer RB: K. Jones RB: C. Perry WR: Boldin (hoping for a nice comeback in October) WR: Kennison WR: A. Bryant WR: K. Dyson TE: B. Miller DEF: Chiefs According to some fantasy football computer program a few in our league use, I had the best team outside of those who used the program. Drewdog's wasn't.
QB B. Favre WR T. Holt (StL - WR) WR D. Jackson (Sea - WR) WR I. Bruce (StL - WR) RB L. Tomlinson (SD - RB) RB K. Barlow (SF - RB) TE T. Heap (Bal - TE) BN T. Duckett (Atl - RB) BN R. Smith (Den - WR) BN D. Driver (GB - WR) BN L. Suggs (Cle - RB) BN J. Harrington (Det - QB) K M. Stover (Bal - K) DEF Carolina (Car - DEF) BN Buffalo (Buf - DEF)
I'm in a 12 team league. My weakness is RB depth QB - Manning (2) WR- Andre Johnson (3) - no other RBs i really liked so WR WR- Chris Chambers (5) WR- Keyshawn Johnson (7) autopick while I was out RB- Ahman Green (1) RB- Curtis Martin (6) TE- L J Smith (14) K- Ryan Longwell (10) Def- Washington (15) Bench --------- QB- Jake Delhomme (9) RB- Moe Williams (4) not too many backs left RB- Ron Dayne (12) WR- Nate Burleson (8) WR- Ike Hilliard (11) - had Dyson but dropped him and added Ike WR- Troy Brown (13) Any comments?
We picked 8th in a 10 team league QB Culpepper RB E. James RB B. Westbrook WR D. Mason WR D. Jackson TE R. McMichael K A. Vinatieri D New England Bench ---------------------------------------------- QB B. Favre RB T. Bell RB J. Bettis WR J. Smith WR R. Wayne TE A. Gates K J. Feely D Pittsburgh I think our team is really solid. Edge is in a contract year, and we really stole Westbrook in the 5th round.
I think Edge is an outstanding late 1st round pick this year. He's in a contract year, and he was already running harder this preaseason than he did even in the AFC championship.
8 team league. QB: M. Hasselbeck RB: J. Lewis (1st pick) had 2nd choice overall in league. RB: C. Martin WR: T. Owens WR: J. Smith/ M. Booker (tossup) WR: C. Chambers K: J. Wilkins DEF: New England Reserves QB: R. Gannon QB: E. Manning ( had to... just cause hes a Manning) RB: T. Jones RB: Moe Williams WR: A. Boldin (was really counting on him) WR: Andre Davis WR: L. Evans (Dark horse) WR: D. Hall (Return yards in league) TE: J. Witten
Ya... no offense bro, but that's a pretty below average team for an 8 team league. Jamal Lewis may avoid his legal troubles and again be a dominant fantasy player but he is not on par with LT or Priest, and I'll also take McAllister, Alexander and Green ahead of him personally. I had the first pick in a 9 team league we drafted on Saturday. a couple of things to note - the league gives 1 point per completion and 3 points for receptions. and we drafted a Defense and had 2 defensive player positions (DL, DB) QB - Bulger HB - Tomlinson HB - Westbrook WR - Ward WR - Coles WR - Price TE - Winslow Jr. K - Longwell DEF - Carolina DB - Phillip Buchanon, Ed Reed DL - Jason Taylor, Jamie Sharper Backups QB - McNair HB - Suggs WR - Brandon Lloyd WR - Ashley Lelie TE - Dallas Clark DB - Samari Rolle DL - Terrell Suggs
2nd pick in an 8 team draft. QB: Daunte Culpepper (2) RB: Priest Holmes (1) RB: Rudi Johnson (7) WR: Eric Moulds (6) WR: Torry Holt (3) WR: Laveranues Coles (9) TE: Tony Gonzalez (4) K: Matt Stover (12) D: Tampa Bay (8) Bench: QB: Byron Leftwich (15) RB: Quentin Griffin (5) RB: Chris Brown (10) RB: Steven Jackson (14) WR: Plaxico Burress (11) WR: Jerry Porter (13)
Mey moes19, start McNair at first... Bulger will run cold this year until about game 6. Just a hunch. btw- I have 3 other teams, but they mostly look like my first post... Since then however, I've traded to get Domanick Davis as my second RB starter... not bad for a return yardage league huh? Delhomme -QB R. Moss -WR A. Johnson -WR D. Hall -WR P. Holmes -RB D. Davis -WR/RB J. Smith -WR/TE J. Kasay -K New England -DEF
You should be good this week, because Hall is supposedly going to start at WR because of injuries. Not sure if he'll get you many points otherwise, unless he just has another monster year on special teams. Here are my starters for week 1, any comments appreciated. QB - Vick RB - Portis RB - Fred Taylor RB/WR - Q. Griffin WR - Horn WR - D. Mason K - Elam D - New England
